We are considering spending a bit less money since we actually don't need a video camera.

Which option would be best here?

How does DECT work? Our router is in the basement, but we have an access point on every floor – does that help with DECT telephony?

Could you buy a simple doorbell that can be controlled via a DECT phone and then just install a phone on each floor?

I have concerns about the range from the basement to the top floor. We have concrete ceilings throughout the house.

How could I generally manage (apart from the doorbell) to have reception with a home phone on every floor? As mentioned, the equipment is entirely in the basement – however, Wi-Fi is available on every floor through access points. This whole technology is already overwhelming me...

No, that only works with DECT repeaters. However, I don't have good experiences with them. The easiest way would be to use VoIP phones or an app like Fritzphone. That then runs over your Wifi. We don't have any phones lying around anymore. We only use mobile devices or on the computer.

We have it like that at work. Customers come in by ringing the bell, and someone with the DECT phone opens the door. You can also call each other within the house. Everything works perfectly.

Alright - so then I would completely rule out DECT if the reception is bad because of it.

But aren't these VoIP phones those huge things you see in companies? Is there anything like that for private use?

How would it work with Fritzphone and a Speedsport Smart 4? Does it communicate completely normally? Could I also possibly control my doorbell system through it? What kind of options would there be here?

Fritzphone runs on Dect. You could simply use the Fritzphone app. Or there are also inexpensive Voip phones from various manufacturers. Setting up is not that difficult.

But there are dozens of DECT phones, right? Why the FritzFon? Just because of the app?

Ultimately, my concern is:

--> complete technology including router in the basement --> only one phone should be on the ground floor, but the signal should also reach the top floor --> forwarding from the house phone to the mobile phone etc. is not necessary at all, or I don’t need it

I would like to:

--> if possible, control the doorbell system via the phone so that I don’t need a separate indoor station --> additionally have a "chime" on the top floor, so that I at least hear someone rang the doorbell. Maybe there is an app for a doorbell system that I can additionally control on my mobile phone.

--> ground floor doorbell as a phone --> top floor doorbell in the form of a chime and then open, for example via mobile phone, which you carry with you anyway.

I hope you understand what I mean?

All in all:

- house phone desired on the ground floor, but should have signal throughout the house - affordable doorbell system (audio necessary, but not necessarily video) preferably also via phone, as possibly cheaper and therefore no separate indoor device necessary? - "sound" audible on the top floor and possibly opening via mobile app? - the entire technology is, however, in the basement

Honestly, this "last" step in the house totally overwhelms me :D

I have thought so much about the technology and in my opinion with the complete installation in the basement (PoE switch, Speedport 4 with fiber optic, access points via PoE injection etc.) did everything right :D now only this "damn" doorbell system comes into play and I have no clue what I should do now how/where – especially also in conjunction with a house phone (which my wife absolutely wants...)
