I myself am a convinced Apple-OS-universe user with all the mentioned devices at home and therefore place value on HomeKit components, but the described scenario sounds "fantastic" to me only in theory, which in reality would be a nightmare for me....

Think it over again whether you really need it and would want to use it that way. Knowing that it works is okay. But as described, no! :)

We thought the same thing, in the end I want a doorbell and an indoor station with which I can open the door. We even gave up on the camera, who do I want to see there in a single-family house?! I'm already right at the door anyway. I also don't want to talk to anyone while I'm away, why would I? Tell the postman to leave the package behind the house? That will probably work differently anyway. For me, that always sounds great at first, but meanwhile it annoys me more, for example, to control the lights with Alexa than to walk to the switch. For me, my own access control was the more exciting matter.

I don’t want to contradict you per se here, but what exactly is a horror for you? It replaces the chime on the upper floors. You can open the door from anywhere. And we already constantly speak to Siri in our apartment (lights, heating, blinds). It even recognizes people and tells you who is standing in front of the door.

... for example, you are listening to music that is interrupted by a "gong" to tell you who is at the door ...!? ... you want peace and suddenly the ringtone sounds from "all" HomePods in the house to tell you who is at the door?

... you or children are sitting in front of the TV and both the sound and picture are interrupted or disturbed by the display ....

For what reason? I can still accept the display and operation from the iPhone, but the "signaling" on all devices, as you described above, is exaggerated and annoying.

Fortunately, everyone can decide that for themselves. In our case, the ringtone also comes into the rooms via multiroom. As a result, you can hear the thing everywhere, and if you don't want to hear it, you mute the chime. Like in the old days with the switch on the intercom handset, only now via automation or a button on a display. The latter is actually quite practical if the house knows that you are sleeping. Danger from doorbell pranks at bedtime elegantly averted!

It can be turned off on the devices if it should get annoying after all.
