OK, but one could then also, for example, communicate with the guest via app while on the go and possibly even unlock the door for them? And the app will still be usable in the (future)?

If you choose the PoE option, only one patch cable is laid to the doorbell and the indoor station and nothing else? I was not aware until now that power supply via a LAN cable is also possible.

As far as I know, the home indoor station only has a touchscreen - so opening the door would be possible through that?

Unfortunately, I can't answer that reliably because I (so far) do not use the functions myself. It is best to call the manufacturer and clarify the open questions. Whether they can reliably tell you something about the future of the app remains to be seen. It looks not much different ultimately with other systems that are 5 times more expensive. I ultimately decided on Metzler for price reasons. Quality good/acceptable camera, not ugly, and offers all basic functions. If something "doesn't fit" someday, you at most waste a manageable three-figure amount and decide on something new. Who knows....

Yes, as PoE (power over ethernet) for the corresponding power supply.

Yes. As soon as it rings, the camera image is displayed and the corresponding buttons for "voice feedback" or a key symbol to open the door.

OK and the patch cables from the doorbell and the indoor stations then run, for example, to the network center in the utility room? I will probably install a switch there that distributes the LAN signal throughout the house.

Exactly! It just has to be a PoE switch, at least the one that powers the system components.

Ah ok, so far a 24-port switch is planned in the utility room. Do they generally have PoE functionality or do I need to pay special attention to that?

You have to make sure that it supports PoE. For 1-2 devices, you can possibly also use PoE injectors if you otherwise have no use for PoE (cameras or something like that). It’s just more cable mess in the rack or the distribution box, doesn’t fit everywhere, and not everyone likes it. A PoE switch is cleaner.
