As far as I know, that requires a FritzBox, right?

You should have mentioned these requirements earlier in the other "Router/Network Thread" ;)

DECT throughout the entire house could be reliably implemented with "multiple" Fritzboxes and ultimately build your WLAN network on top of that. In that case, you would forgo the Speedport + APs…

Or you simply leave the Fritzbox in the basement, DECT reception should be fine on the ground floor, and on the upper floor use the Fritzphone app on the phone as Rick mentioned, which only requires WLAN. The app turns your smartphone into a normal "handset" and is often even more practical than an additional handset somewhere… At least one does not exclude the other and it should be considered as a supplement.

We are now deciding on the "standard doorbell system" from Comelit that the electrician usually installs everywhere here... small audio device on the wall in the living area (he said the sound is usually also audible in the hallway and upstairs) and that's it. There is nothing more :D

Regarding the house phone:

Here we will place a normal DECT phone on the ground floor and hope that the reception at least reaches from the basement to the ground floor. Alternatively, as you say, you can control everything via the Fritzphone app over WLAN (which should be good via our access points on the ground floor and upstairs) conveniently via the phone.

I think that should work... and if it turns out badly and the DECT reception sucks, I’ll have to rethink or alternatively tell my wife that there will be no house phone :D

Nonetheless: I can manage everything with the Speedport, right? I don’t necessarily need the Fritzbox? I can plug the Fritzfon into the Speedport as well?

But there is also the Speedphone 12 ?

You can forget that. I originally had the FRITZ!Box in the basement too, telephone + intercom analog, everything wonderful. New FRITZ!Boxes only have 1x analog, so a switch to FritzFon, then I had to move the box from the basement to the ground floor office and also change all the LAN connections because the network distribution still takes place in the basement.

So you mean that it’s not possible to establish a connection via DECT from the basement to the ground floor, or is the signal so bad that you can indeed forget about it?

So the router MUST inevitably be in the ground floor office? What do I do then with my nice router/switch distribution in the basement? Can everything go up to the office? That can’t be true... It has to work differently somehow.

No, THE router does not necessarily have to be on the ground floor. But depending on the implementation of the "telephone network" in your house, it might be necessary or sensible to place an additional Fritzbox on the ground floor (it can also be an older model like 7490 or similar).
However, in that case, I would forego the Speedport.

You wouldn't connect the Fritzfon to the analog input of the box at all, but rather use the internal DECT function of the box/es.

Theoretically, the same should also be possible with Speedports and Speedphones instead of Fritzbox + Fritzfon... but I can't say anything reliable about that. Using Speedport would, however, eliminate the Fritzphone app on the mobile phone... so you’d have to distribute several Speedphones around the house. Maybe someone can report more from experience....!?

There are also DECT repeaters from Fritz. I don't know how good the current ones are, but we had no problems with the older generation. However, the property was also quite large.
