that is not really correct. The current 7590 has 2x Analog. (1x of them directly TAE, an adapter from RJ11 to TAE is included for FON2 (analog))

Hello everyone,

we are building a prefabricated house this year and had the sampling appointment last week. We only sampled the preparation for an intercom system there (optionally with Bus-2-wire or patch cable).

We want a good video intercom system with intercom stations on the ground floor and upper floor (doorbell preferably in anthracite, preferably elegant design). In addition, the house door should be able to be opened via the intercom station (electric opener is installed in the house door). If the camera image can also be seen on a smartphone while on the go and communication with the visitor is possible (and possibly also opening the door), that would be a nice additional (but not absolutely necessary) feature.

So far, I have the Metzler VDM10 in close consideration. Would you advise me to buy the version with 2-wire cabling or rather with PoE? I am not quite sure which would be the better choice.

And can you generally share your experiences with the VDM 10?

I would ALWAYS lay 2x LAN cables to the video intercom system. Systems with POE are mEA more flexible to integrate into the network. This probably gives you more options to choose and connect systems without cloud dependency or to access them from outside (port forwarding or VPN / WireGuard).

For example, I can open the motor lock of my door remotely, and contrary to my initial opinion that this is just a gimmick, I have actually used it several times to let relatives into the house in my absence (picking up tools, bringing food ;-), putting packages inside, etc.). The image is also excellent at night and is recorded if needed (ONVIF / Surveillance Station). The system is a Dahua (via tower). It is now also available in anthracite and more compact with camera + RFID included (so it will soon come to the office when the landlord gets moving and the wall is up ...).

PoE!

I have had the system for a few months now and am generally satisfied.
But I must admit that I’m not a power user in the sense that I use an electric opener or other app functions.
For me, it was an aesthetically acceptable and good value-for-money solution. Unfortunately, it is used for nothing more than a doorbell with a nameplate and video in our case. At least not yet :)

If you want to know something specific, just ask ...

How many indoor stations (and which ones? Home or Pro) do you use? Can you also open the front door via the indoor stations? How is the app (I think I read somewhere that it hasn’t been updated for 2 years) and which app functions do you use?

2x Home indoor stations, although the second one is still not installed, only tested :) So far, we get by with one, the second one is ready. The Pro stations offer, as far as I remember, only a larger and higher-quality display. If I’m not mistaken, they are functionally the same. The Home stations also allow opening the front door but this is not used by me. Also, no app usage. To my surprise, the VDM 10 could not be integrated into Metzler’s own app. You would have to use, for example, the Guarding Vision app.
