I have quickly illustrated this.

The drawn height is 1.97m. According to DIN, it must be 2 m. The red circle shows the spot where it gets tight when going down.

That is fine. I am almost 1.90 m tall and grew up in a house where the passage was significantly lower. However, I will discuss it again and possibly we will extend the stair run at the top by one step or with the floor height increase, the stair starting point and that spot would have at least 10 cm more. Thanks for your feedback regarding this.

Without light strips, I absolutely cannot imagine it with a high knee wall. There is not enough light coming through the ridge sides with the targeted room program (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) and the restriction that we have to realize about 14 m² as ancillary space (storage rooms).

If we go for a knee wall height of 180 cm and a roof pitch of 21°, making light strips possible, it might work if the staircase is moved to the middle of the eaves side.
That can even work with minor changes on the ground floor. But I don’t know if we really want to take on this redesign, especially since there are disadvantages again and not everything fits nicely.
Sorry for the 90° rotation.

May I ask what made you plan completely without a shower.

Could the area also be reduced by a knee wall? In all rooms except the stairwell, this is easily possible.

That was my inquiry; I ask further: are no openable windows possible for safety reasons or in principle? Because even closed window strips would have charm in addition to a main window, although you would have to clean them from the outside. It is also about being able to transport something somewhat longer through the staircase. Is there only utility space in the basement? The offer for the floor plan discussion is still valid.

You will be able to shower in the bathtubs. We don't have space for separate showers. We like taking baths occasionally. We weren't completely agreed on the children's bathroom, but we have a teenager who likes to bathe – I also liked to do that as a teenager – and as small children we also liked splashing around in the tub.

Only fixed sealed window bands are possible anyway and these are structurally only feasible from a knee wall of about 180 cm inside.

Knee walls would probably be possible, but then window bands wouldn't work again or where would you insert them? It will also be difficult to get to 14 m² that way and the room can no longer be used, not even for storage.

PS Fixed windows due to SIA standard (risk of falling). Basement only secondary area, exactly.
