Sure, you can switch to something cheaper. But you’re a bit optimistic about the price; I’d be very surprised if you found 8cm concrete pavers for 10€ anywhere, and even 15€ would be a real stroke of luck, even in standard gray without extras. Besides, that’s only part of the cost; you still need the substructure. And in the end, you don’t save much with the cheapest possible pavers. 100 sqm of paving area is quite a lot; that’s enough for a terrace, paths, driveway, and double carport. At 20€ instead of 40€ per sqm, that’s only 2000€ total. In the context of building a house, that’s really not much, and this paving will last you 50 years. I’d rather save those 2000€ elsewhere.
I’m not saying everything has to be expensive. I just want to warn against sugarcoating everything at the beginning because you think the cheapest will do and then realizing later that it doesn’t. Own experience. When I look at the calculations I made back then for the outdoor facilities...
I just checked. At Hornbach, gray with 6 cm thickness (more than enough) for 12 euros. Nice options under 20 euros. You definitely have to calculate carefully. But also don’t assign astronomical sums. If necessary, the yard can just stay unpaved for 2 more years. But I would never get so deep into debt because of that that the rest of my life suffers. Or give up building the house for that reason.
