I find that pretty irrational for a "Schisshasen".

You have no idea about the details of whether I am still invested in the stock market or how much was/is invested. You have made your statement clear now. Can you please "move on"? I am not interested. Thank you!

Of course, it very much depends on your wishes. €15k for a kitchen in a new building is certainly quite normal. +/- €5k is probably still standard. A kitchen under €10k including appliances is possible, you just have to be aware that you then have to save on appliances, countertops, etc. That’s not a big deal. You just have to have expectations corresponding to the price. And especially with kitchens and bathroom furniture (which you don’t buy very often) there are incredible price and quality ranges. Basically, I have the impression that you are quite modest. And you haven’t yet said what else besides the kitchen should be included in the €15k. Maybe calculate with bathroom furniture closer to €20k. That way you don’t have to hold back on every little thing.

(IKEA kitchen with self-assembly and some craftsmanship skills, by the way, I don’t think is a bad choice. Only I wouldn’t take the appliances from there.)

Thanks for your answer. I think it will come down to full equipment. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen. So far, we have been very restrained here. But it doesn’t all have to be done at once & also no “high-end”. I will browse catalogs to get a “feel” for the prices again. I just don’t want to sink money into a new car with basic equipment. The kitchen should possibly be of higher quality after all, because it’s in “continuous use”.

So I really like Ikea as well. Attractive design, transparency, availability, combination options, etc. are really good there. And if you don’t move around all the time anymore, the stuff also holds up.
We have a lot of Ikea ourselves. Many things still from student days, and when we move in, a lot will be replaced too, but I do think you keep seeing many pieces of furniture again and again. Somehow I don’t like that anymore or I feel like we have outgrown it.
There will still be Ikea in our new house. Children's room, Pax and Besta are fixed for us. However, I will no longer buy an Ikea couch. Sure, it’s inexpensive, but after 3 years with significant seat sagging and now really worn through after 5.
I think heavily used furniture simply needs a bit more quality and also money, like for example with a sofa.
I don’t just have a list with all possible cost positions of our build, but also an Excel sheet with all furniture items including lamps, rugs, blinds, etc.
Maybe it won’t always be exactly the lamps I currently have on my list, but that way you get a pretty good feeling for what is needed and while browsing online you see what you like and develop a sense of prices.

Hi, even if you didn’t want to hear it / or didn’t want to go into it anymore and I don’t know your strategies, with investments in the stock market you make more than the ~1% you pay at the bank. I will only use a minimum of equity in my new building and let the rest keep working! Just a small impulse, maybe to think in that direction after all. Otherwise, you do have solid finances, others finance completely different houses of cards. Have fun and success with your project!
