When I look at the historical data up to today, have there been any losses so far? Not at all.

1. Anyone with stock market experience would now tell you that past performance is not the best indicator for future investments.

2. This applies to the past only if you do not need the money and can wait it out.
However, if you want to buy a house during a recession, any current assumption about the value of your portfolio at that time is an extreme speculation.

1. In the long term, yes, unless the global economy collapses + the abandonment of capitalism occurs. Then we all have a problem.

2. Clearly wait it out + appropriate risk distribution of the capital, otherwise it doesn’t make sense. Besides, I don’t have to buy a house during the recession with the portfolio at the bottom. I don’t see any "extreme" speculation there.

Basically, you can't lose on the stock market if you are invested globally for several years. The markets have risen annually several times higher than the value growth generated by real estate so far. Even if stocks and real estate both lose half their value at the same time, you have at least preserved the value of your savings and can then go property shopping .

Seems to me that this is quite a speculation in the post though

Clear but no extreme speculation, there is nothing to lose - unless you break down because you need property to survive.
