Is a high basement the golden middle way?

In plain German: the tiles on the ground floor should not be more than half a meter higher than the paving stones of the path to the front door.

I said "earlier": the plinth does not have a special shape. You don't have to imagine a building component beneath it, and certainly no color differentiation. "Plinth" simply means "difference between the top edge of the terrain and the top edge of the finished ground floor." What can be considered terrain in this sense, I also already wrote.

Your raised basement is canceled. Red.

No matter how I twist and turn it, such considerations fall for me exactly into the category of raping a property. What is that supposed to achieve?

The hoped-for savings on the basement are easily spent again on the exterior facilities, so that you have a staircase to the front door and the terrace, which also needs to be filled up...

My wife's grandparents had exactly such a house and I really don't know anyone who voluntarily brings something like that into their own home.

Apart from the fact that it looks bad...

If windows absolutely have to be in the basement, then I would rather deal with light wells etc. than unnecessarily create height differences that I then have to overcome several times a day.

... I think the discussion also leads to nothing.

This is about raising a house to gain living space. In another thread, the OP is exploring what else can be added on top.

The problem is apparently: there are living space requirements that cannot quite be accommodated in two full floors. So the building - if it can't go upwards, then downwards - should somehow be bulged out with a two-point-something living floor. This way of Jakob does not lead to the crowning achievement.

I suggest the OP simply shows his room program and his plot, and then we all complain about it together here until it fits.

Although it requires great patience to listen to the whole song. The soprano hums the cloakroom melody, and the bass drones kalksandstone in between. But in the end, you have a house that fits the plot. With stairs in the most favorable running direction, the house nestles perfectly around the best location of the shower, and even the downpipe positions can be optimized here.

You have said the magic word: Raumprogramm! One should plan their house according to their individual space requirements and not necessarily exploit the maximum area. If you would like a basement plus 2 full floors plus a penthouse floor for a 4-person family, a corresponding townhouse could also be the solution. Best regards in brief

I tend to believe you. But I would find it even better if you could tell me where I can read that.

Yes, everyone has certain living space wishes. And there should also be a little reserve. And a hobby room in the basement with proper daylight windows would simply be nicer. The same applies to an additional reserve room that could be used as a guest or workroom. And I do think that the high basement variant is quite attractive, although I do see the disadvantage with the stairs.

Since we want to build reasonably centrally, we cannot buy a huge plot that offers enough space on just one or two floors. So one should make the best possible use of space by optimizing the attic and the basement.

No plot has been decided yet. And of course we have already roughly estimated what we have in mind.

... exactly there: ... for lack of a relevant Langenscheidt I have tried to translate this excerpt for you from official jargon into plain language as an example.
