Had to google it first...I still know it by the old name, XBMC. I had it on the RasPI.

It has now become a very, very powerful program.

Iptv
Netflix
Sky
Amazon prime etc.

Ambilight control

I have also been involved for 8 years, back then still on a Fantec multimedia hard drive.

There is nothing that doesn’t run there. For the first steps, hsk tool is a help.

The zip code at the top left is not my location. ;)
A VPN provider is an advantage.

I mostly use it for foreign channels.

Good to know! The fact that Netflix and Amazon did not work was the reason for me to put it aside. Do you know how this is regulated? Own apps? Because otherwise they run with Silverlight (which is not available on Linux like that)

May I refer to this again? Does this mean I can put a receiver in the basement/attic and stream its picture throughout the house via LAN? Remote control also via LAN? The background is that soon every technology will want a special cable, which increases the wiring effort. Two decent network cables or a fiber optic cable to every room would not be a problem and would be quite future-proof with this option.

Is this possible? That would be ideal, LAN in every room and depending on the need, use it for telephone, internet, NAS, TV, intercom, door intercom, etc.

Yes, that is possible and I will do everything over LAN. TV server, NAS, etc. will go into the technology room. At the moment, the receiver looks like a small PI behind the TVs.

So, there are different ways to realize something like this. You need to do some research.
