In my opinion, a satellite dish has only advantages compared to cable or Entertain and no disadvantages. LAN connection for videos that do not run through the TV program - logical. But a sports broadcast, for example, is only available via SAT, cable, or Entertain and with SAT definitely first. :)

SAT has a significantly higher program variety than cable/Entertain. Especially when you want to subscribe to Sky, both cable and Entertain lack quite a bit.

Therefore, we will have a SAT dish (DVB-S2) installed and of course a MediaCenter with LAN connection, in our case, for example, a no longer used MacBook.

@Willem81: Take a look at MagineTV, you can always test it for free for one month and then cancel monthly! The costs are 4.99€ per month including some HD channels. I have the appropriate APP running on my FireTV stick and it works wonderfully. Only the starting of the APP and the slight switching delays might bother some people. For me, however, it's negligible. I did it for the reason that we are moving at the end of the year and I wanted to save some money. So I don't need to book expensive Entertain, I only need an internet connection. With the 16000kbs you should be fine!

What advantages are those supposed to be, please? Proprietary system that does not allow any external access?

That is not true, and technically not possible either.
With every tariff, even with Telekom, it clearly says up to.

Why does one have to access the receiver from outside? It should simply work, and it does. The only thing is that the app for remote programming sometimes needs to be reinstalled on the phone... With Entertain, the 16kbit are guaranteed, otherwise the service would not run.

Because, for example, you want to download recordings from the receiver. So far, I couldn't see any advantages in the Entertain receiver, but I am happy to be proven wrong.

As for the other point: okay, I haven't looked that far.

I have a satellite receiver that is also connected to the LAN, so you can use any device in the network (via app or via HTML/browser, so basically any device regardless of manufacturer/software) to watch recordings, watch "live" TV, schedule recordings, etc. External access is practical for that. And even with Entertain, there is no guarantee; I know several colleagues where too little bandwidth came through despite Entertain.
