Oh dear, I can already see this won’t work again..

The staircase goes all the way up to the roof and gets a window here. It unfortunately won’t be very bright, but at least some light will come in. My mother-in-law wants the kitchen/living room ratio of the granny flat that way. When we live in the whole house later, the walls will be taken down anyway.
I don’t quite understand the thing about the bathrooms. A bathtub and two showers are enough for us..

Yes, unfortunately, this happens with the doors from time to time. Just like the storage room on the ground floor is actually a guest room. The architect definitely has to change that.

It was important to us that our apartment is on one floor

The storage room is supposed to be a guest room, since visits are very frequent here this size is quite appropriate. Wall layouts in the upper floor are priceless because of the many corners and edges, right? We don’t really like that either, we have already adjusted it somewhat; before it looked even worse. A larger plot was unfortunately hard to get here, we know that our requirements are difficult to implement on such a small plot.
The driveway will be reduced in size. A garage is still planned.

Where is north?
Honestly, your information is too sparse and only comes in dribs and drabs here.
You’d rather squeeze five of you onto one level than look for alternatives? And because grandma occasionally has a guest, she needs a mega guest room that then stands empty 90% of the time?

With your 35-degree roof, you won’t get far either. Since it says at least there, I would at least go for 45°. Is there already a decision on that?

What about a garden access – even if it’s tiny? Sitting on a terrace with three kids is a completely different feeling than squeezing onto a balcony. And what do you mean by "when we later live in the whole house"? Does the mother-in-law want to marry again and move in with her boyfriend soon? Or are you already firmly planning for the Corona death of the mother-in-law?

Follow up with information! You will benefit from the Corona situation, as many "of us" have a bit more time.

Due to our three little ones, I have rather little time, but I will provide additional information as soon as I get around to it today.
