Both positions are next to the house. So what is a)/b)? Some things cannot be properly done afterward if they are not planned from the start. Why for example 2 separate parking areas? That automatically creates unnecessarily much “sealed” surface in front of the house. Do you then drive behind a fence along your house to the parking space? And then have to back out approx. 20 m again? But here it’s only about the question of how you should design this driveway without paving over everything.

How often is which parking space used? If the single parking space is for a rarely used recreational vehicle, I can also imagine placing two driving tracks into a lawn area. Then drive the vehicle in and out a few times, mark the tracks, and off you go.

a=Carport=at the house entrance b=open area=gable side I thought I had already explained that anyway..... Some things yes, although the question always arises what one considers "proper," that often lies in the eye of the beholder. In our case, we have oriented our house, in my opinion, optimally for the view into the green. For a parking space, I would not change one centimeter of my living space. Regarding car & stuff, we have a rather atypical relationship. The carport also had the particular reason that the side to the very nice neighbor is "closed," which pleases him too. Thus, we have a plot with three green sides and at the front of the house we have almost no windows. Why not? I am flexible enough to use a carport as an advertising space or party room, storage area for a trailer or wood, etc., I have no difficulty with a change of use contrary to the meaning of the word. Honestly, it will show my laziness where/when/how I park, we have more than enough of such space, that's not a problem. Maybe parking space b) will also be the place for the table tennis table or something else. We did NOT plan that.... that will come to us. For some, that may be chaotic or frightening, we rather enjoy finding a meaningful use for it. As I said: car is parked way in the back. That's exactly what I wrote, that I do NOT want. No concrete, really none, no sealing! I think it has been explained multiple times and understandably, but if I feel like it, I can also drive all around; also a nice idea for the grandkids with the pedal car. Does anyone have a house where they can always drive out forward? I haven't paid attention to that yet. I look out of the window and see that everyone drives in forward and out backward. I don't see the problem, maybe I also park on the street where there is endless space, I must admit I don't really care since I sometimes only use my car once a week, sometimes not at all for 3 months when I am away. Let's say the two areas will probably be used multifunctionally, we'll see how.

Thumbs up for that from a car enthusiast who is now "disciplinedly unreasonable" in dealing with his own vehicles. If you don't make a problem out of it, there isn't one (as so often).

very very important, a slot car racing track for the grandkids, there were 2 in the summer, next year there will be 4. Fortunately, the graph probably won't be extended

I know many people who like fancy cars and also like to spend money on them. I can really understand that.... after all, I was young once too  but because of a limited budget I must(ed) set priorities and the car topic was the easiest for me, because I have already indulged myself a bit in life. A very important learning effect came during my time in South America, where there were only a few car models and equipment and it purely depended on function. So I was proud of my bright red, dented Toyota Hilux with four different tires and all kinds of cobbled-together parts, since the term or quality "specialist workshop" didn’t exist.
Repairs, by the way also on the gas instant water heater, always cost about 20-30 euros, and the first two repairs were usually useless, the third then brought partial success, with which one could live well.
What was really nice, a scratch in the paint didn’t make me nervous, the company wouldn’t have known what I wanted or would have only made it worse and there was no modern onboard system where you could already write off 1-2,000 euros if a warning light blinked. It only cost a maximum of 30 euros the first time again. Also, I didn’t get a letter for 1.5 years... and didn’t even have a mailbox... wonderful.
I try to maintain this relaxed attitude toward cars AT LEAST in part here FOR MYSELF, which is why it’s always just an old car, unfortunately with less favorable repairs.
Therefore, I have difficulty with the term "reasonable" in this context or simply live unreasonably. Unlike before, I no longer understand that people in the neighborhood here also have an expensive fleet but would never spend money on a nice picture or a nice lamp. The focus for us is very much on the car, which you notice best when you leave the country once.
And yet I can understand it, just as when someone buys an expensive watch or something else. I got my last watch for my first communion :D and still live quite decently.
We could easily have made a turntable, for example, but that still wouldn’t occur to me.
