Well, we switched over 3 years ago and I see absolutely many advantages in it, especially through the photovoltaic system. From about April, we basically fuel for free through the photovoltaic system until October.
Recently, an acquaintance of mine bought an MG5 as an annual car privately for about €18-19,000, and for example, our current Kia racing car costs exactly €235 in leasing fees for 15,000 km/year as a top offer. I don’t find that expensive, as I usually have about 7 years of warranty plus a brand-new, highly comfortable car.
Only through the use of a BEV does the photovoltaic system really become sensible, at least that is my assessment, and if you intensively search, there are already truly extraordinarily cheap offers today.

Despite being an entry-level variant, the Astra already has some comfort features like RFK/Navi/LED-SW/seat heating that my wife is reluctant to give up, which means you fall out of the cheap entry-level variants with other manufacturers and have to choose the next higher category. In addition, it is very economical to drive. Of course, it is not a race machine with 110 hp, but it doesn’t have to be.

Since SUVs and Chinese manufacturers tend to be off the table for my wife, the selection is not abundant. The Inster is practical but extremely a matter of taste. I also like the e208 as a compact car, but it seems convincing in terms of consumption only as a facelift version with a larger motor and battery. I like the EV3 and Kona, but they are SUVs.
ID3, Born and Elroc are then over the 300€ mark in leasing for 10,000 km.

Since I realize that the typical street-parker won’t switch first, I tell myself that as a photovoltaic and single-family house owner, one should take on the role of a pioneer here. I could also imagine that prices will adjust again when the CO2 tax comes into effect in 2027.
I see less waste of resources since the car is not destroyed but resold.

Definitely. Charging electricity is simply too expensive if you have to charge externally. Whereas the Born starts at €280 for 48/10,000 or the Elroc at €199 for 48/10,000.

I agree with you. However, we only have about €70 fuel costs per month on average. If I were to apply the operational depreciation over 6 years, I would have about €200 depreciation. In fact, due to price increases, it is probably somewhere between €50 and €70. Maintenance and wear have never been more than €50-60/month so far, and car tax is less than €10/month. Maintenance and depreciation could, of course, also increase at times. Currently, I am below the leasing costs in total, while with the leasing costs there are, of course, also some costs for maintenance and lost feed-in compensation of 7,x cents/kWh in summer or electricity costs of about 30 cents/kWh in winter. Purely economically considered, switching to a BEV does not make sense at the moment. MG4 and 5 have a very good price-performance ratio and the MG4 would be ideal in terms of size, but they are out as Chinese cars for my wife. At least the offer for the Elroq is probably only for business customers. I have only found the offer that way in the commercial sector. With the desired special equipment, I was at €290 in the private sector at Leasingmarkt.

Now the realization is here that resources are finite, so it is time for a change in behavior or one takes the Titanic strategy and says "As long as the music keeps playing". This change in behavior must not be imposed on every individual. It is a societal feat of strength. How that is supposed to work – I have no solution for that either. Only there is a necessity in the true sense of the word, namely to turn around an emergency.

100% agreement

I agree as well, especially since temporary overcapacities can be used locally here and seasonal shifted production and demand times can be balanced in heating.

I can contrast all illusions here with reality... for 1.5 years I have been driving a BEV as a company car and the company now also allows diesel again because the electric vehicles are too expensive for field service use. So a rollback, two years ago you were no longer allowed to order diesel...

Fast charging on the highway is expensive, the travel time increases by 1-2 hours depending on the route, the 2 oil changes in 3 years do not compensate for that...

Resources will run out like everything else. When things get really tight, there will be a war and afterwards people will reflect again. I don't see humanity sitting down reasonably and agreeing. You have to be on the brink of destruction before something changes. Competition, rivalry and war are in human nature. Everyone knows that on a small scale, I had to find my wife, she was not assigned to me because it would be unfair if everyone didn't have one.

Left-green daydreamers don't like to hear that, but we will have to turn around enormously if we want to play a role in this century...
