Housekeeping room room without window - is the ventilation system sufficient?

Hello everyone,

Our floor plan is currently with the architect. We would like to build a city villa with an adjacent garage. The garage will be brick-built. Since the garage is directly next to the house wall, it is inevitably the case that one room has no window. This is intended to be the utility room with heating, washing machine, dryer, and other equipment.

However, I am a bit concerned about the heat and possibly moisture that these devices may emit.

Would a 24-hour ventilation system (like the ones used in interior bathrooms) or a small window, which could only be opened towards the garage, help? Maybe someone has a tip or has a similar utility room without a window and knows advice.

Thank you very much!

So our utility room does have a window, but it is never open. However, we have a central controlled residential ventilation system where it is connected as an exhaust room. If you don't have a central controlled residential ventilation system, you have to install a decentralized ventilation system - in whatever form. However, these usually go through the outer wall and would probably then also end up in the garage?!

You can manage all of that with a controlled residential ventilation system. I would be much more bothered by the pitch-dark room on the ground floor, where I (no, not me directly :D) sort laundry, etc. Please show the floor plan that is currently with the architect. ;)

Our utility room and HAR combo are located in the basement, where there is only a narrow slit in the shaft as a window. But since it is connected to the controlled residential ventilation system (no wonder, the device is located there), we don't miss anything at all. Install a good area light (LED panel with >= 4000 lumens, neutral white), then the light will be good even without a window.

If you don't have controlled residential ventilation, you can still plan for a decentralized ventilation system.

I don’t have any plans yet; they are currently being created.

A room adjoining a garage can indeed have two exterior walls. The fact that it adjoins the garage alone is therefore not a disqualifying criterion for a window.
