ours is still solid oak - but once the rest of the facade is finished and no construction equipment needs to go through the door anymore - it will first be iron oxide red again, as it originally was.

Well then he just doesn’t have maize yellow or Lidl blue, but the four or six variants will hardly all be white or anthracite (?) - or is his favorite movie "Fifty Shades of Grey"? *LOL*

In fact, there were four "shades of gray," not to call it anthracite, and twice brown (once smooth, once grained). And the surcharge for other colors is unfortunately not just "a few euros" per window but a flat rate of about 4000 euros per order. So you really think twice about whether it absolutely has to be something outside the mainstream. But fortunately, there are still other adjustment options for the desired individuality.

Forget about the category "Mainstream." Going with or against the flow is not a value in itself. Personal taste counts - and if that happens to be popular at the moment, then so be it. Choosing the mainstream can also be a very confident choice - it's just that this is not recognizable from the outside.

Oh It's only partly about mainstream here, since it's about costs. You choose what you can tolerate and pay for - the offer from the GU only includes what people actually buy... chicken-and-egg principle ... which either can't be paid for or doesn't exist at all. For the latter, there is no mainstream at all, but you confuse it with your own taste ;)

Those who look carefully will also find very inexpensive solutions. Not everything is automatically more expensive just because it deviates from the "Schema F." Often, there is simply a lack of creativity and courage. For example, for the exterior design of the house, you can use standard windows but strongly influence the appearance in an affordable way through contrasting casings. Color in the plaster does not make much of a price difference, and a very inexpensive front door looks completely different when you design the surroundings as well. In the end, it is all about an overall impression. In a company, we decorated a simple steel door with a full-surface adhesive foil, which cost a few euros for a stock photo, and even with the UV-resistant foil, the costs remained under 100€. The door is very recognizable, appears inviting, and brings joy to employees and visitors. It does not have to be expensive to achieve a great result if you orient yourself towards your own possibilities and your own taste. Those who orient themselves to other people's "standards" and always look, as marketing wishes, towards the more expensive, discover a recipe for latent dissatisfaction.
