Hollow bricks and mineral insulation unfavorable?

Certainly, any insulation will get wet if structural errors occur. An ETICS is inherently inferior and should only be ordered by people who really have to watch every cent. I just wonder why it is particularly associated with a clinker facade.

Until just now, this thread managed to avoid bashing. It's a shame you can never keep that up.

A layperson can see damp brick facades in existing buildings with the naked eye. As if that were so unusual.
In new construction, insulation made of mineral wool can indeed get wet and stay wet.

True. When it rains, the bricks get wet. But I haven't quite understood by what effect the mineral wool in particular of a cavity insulation is supposed to be especially at risk of moisture.

Not particularly, but just as sensitive as mineral wool itself. Behind the brickwork, the chance of drying is also close to zero. With the brickwork, you also have no chance of noticing it or getting back to it, which is enormously complicated. Someone just has to be careless and not cover it properly after insulation, and over the weekend there will be a nice downpour against the unprotected insulation before the brickwork is built up.
You could also put EPS behind the brickwork (which is definitely done), which cannot become damp and is cheaper. But I know, Jehovah topic.
But my main point here is that all wall constructions have their disadvantages somewhere. At the latest, if processed incorrectly, everything gets damaged.

Yes, of course. Shoddy work exists everywhere, but double-shell with core insulation is probably one of the most durable wall constructions if done correctly, hence my doubt about the statement from the construction company that the core insulation is particularly at risk from moisture.

Actually, mineral wool behind the brick veneer should dry quite well, the outer shell is quite permeable to vapor and the wool "breathes" as long as it is dimensionally stable. There is a quite good treatise from the Fraunhofer Institute on this, which mainly discusses the question of whether it is better to work with or without an air gap in a double-shell construction.

Hello 11ant!

One conversation...

Yes, I had already thought that too, you put it compactly, thank you
Especially with our current favorite – FIBAV (or ELM Bau) – I have concerns regarding a monolithic wall structure.
I have to try to find out how they cope with a mineral ETICS or with the Multipor boards mentioned here...

Next Friday there is an “event” in Braunschweig (advertising and sales event?), which we will listen to, also to get into more conversation with them, then I would also clearly ask which alternative to styrofoam plastic ETICS they have had good experiences with.

Hopefully, there is one

Best regards,
Christian
