I think the type of window also has something to do with the feeling of the room. Floor-to-ceiling windows convey spaciousness and bring the outside into the house. Parapet windows keep the outside where it belongs - exaggerated: the cave as protection. Now there are certainly situations where I don’t want the outside inside the house at all - for example, if the neighbor has built his garage 3 m in front of the window, or if the main road runs in front of the house; but just as there are situations on the upper floor where floor-to-ceiling windows are appropriate, e.g. in the bedroom, if you have a view of fields.

So someone here is happy about the floor-to-ceiling windows.

This summer is an exceptional situation and cannot be used as a reference.

I personally believe we should prepare for such summers more often in the future. Last year, there were also hot days (over weeks) with local storms; this year, hot weeks. I do not want an air conditioner in the house yet, but I would probably make the preparations so that it could be retrofitted without major difficulty. regards

Nothing needs to be prepared for this, except to provide an outdoor power outlet. The rest can be done easily afterwards.
