I really like it a lot – this will be a beautiful house!
I’m coming a bit late to the party, so please don’t be upset if I mention a few small things that have already been discussed:
[*I would move the door from the hallway to the study slightly upwards on the plan to align it flush with the adjacent wall
[*]the following two points are subjective, but to me the current plan feels too cluttered and "cramped"
[LIST]
[*]in this context, I would also omit the door between the hallway and the living room and instead use the now widened passage (possibly with a small floor-to-ceiling shelf or similar as a mini divider)
Interesting considerations regarding the alignment and the doors. I therefore tend to have a door to the living room so that we have a kind of airlock for potential pets. I have lived with apartment cats both with and without such an airlock. It definitely makes things more relaxed if you don’t have to worry about one or the other little animal quickly slipping out the front door.
[*]I would also omit the door from the hallway to the airlock
[*]I would straighten the awkward space at the top right by Child I by moving the exterior wall slightly to the left (not really important, but personally I am a bit neurotic and like things as clear as possible)
Let’s take a look.
[*]I know this has already been discussed, but I would also leave out the door between the entrance and the living corridor to open up the living corridor and allow light in. Possibly soundproofing to the children's rooms can also be achieved with an accordingly designed door
Well, you could just leave the door open and only close it when needed.
[*]I would leave the space under the staircase open and probably do the staircase open as well (without risers). Otherwise, the living corridor really gets tight/dark.
Valid point, which has been mentioned several times already. We will still have to think about how to keep the corridor downstairs as bright as possible.
[*]the bathroom downstairs is really huge – if desired, you can enlarge the dressing room a bit by moving the wall between the bathroom and the dressing room to the left on the plan
Good idea! We will discuss that in the detailed planning.
Another thing I noticed: the 14kW air-to-water heat pump seems strongly oversized. Have you had advice on the technology and do you feel confident? Otherwise, it’s worth planning this topic early and carefully.
We actually haven’t paid attention to that at all yet and have no idea. Thanks for the hint, we will bring it up and, if necessary, seek an expert opinion.
Congratulations again on the great design!
Thank you very much for the compliment! :D
Of course, we are really happy to hear that and it’s reassuring too. :)
