Thank you for your frank words. Basically, we also don’t like the layout. However, the living/dining room doesn’t have to face south/west. My parents also don’t necessarily want large windows. The double garage is mandatory, though. We know the plot isn’t optimal, but unfortunately there was no better one. Do you have any idea in mind how one could completely redesign the floor plan better?

My parents are also not satisfied with the floor plan. I don’t want to impose anything on them but rather help them with the house. Hence the question here about help or ideas.

Do you have a reason? For you or the parents?

Do they have a reason?

Do they have a reason?

I wouldn’t say there is an optimal plot for anyone.
Therefore, this statement does not count for me.
The only thing that counts is the fact of the "existing plot": you plan your needs according to what it offers. For that, however, you are the wrong contact person, not only for me.

Basically, I pass on the comments. In both directions. Regarding the orientation, they don't really care. The main reason they build is to have everything on one level. A terrace facing east is also something they like. (Unlike most people) And with the windows came the clear argument, they have to be cleaned too. (As a counterexample I have large sliding elements in the kitchen and living room) Regarding the garage, two cars, a motorcycle, and preferably a small workbench need to be accommodated. My father also already had the idea to split the garages so that there is a somewhat larger one and a small one just for the car. That way you could possibly build on the boundary on both sides and gain space. My mother would like a covered terrace.

Maybe your parents should think about it? Please dear parents, give it some thought!

Then please plan for it. Mom, please have it planned.

Building a house does not automatically mean having everything on one level. Please pass it on…

Then the plot has a good orientation.

Well, without windows no living space. Maybe pass on the thought that ownership, but also renting, involves obligations. Generally regarding maintenance, but also preservation of value. Or do your parents want to focus on the goal of getting by without any cleaning at all? Please forward the question as well.

I can't remember today which bungalow discussion the floor plan reminds me of - tomorrow is another day anyway :)

Primarily, three things stand out to me:
3. the house entrances are built "so close, yet still off";
2. the desperate exploitation of the building boundaries;
1. the residents are supposed to be 65 years old - at that age, I am still accustomed to enough internet affinity to not leave the discussion about the own home solely to the children, after all, one still talks "oneself" too (?)

2 cars and a motorcycle? What kind of cars are those? The garage is quite narrow. And, are 2 cars really necessary? What about bicycles? Maybe also consider an approach where eating/cooking = combined room, living/TV/sofa as a second room. Saves the second dining area option.
