A few measurements would be good for a floor plan, then the rooms can be better assessed.

Now honestly, we are the age of your parents and live in the newly built bungalow. We would never have let our children plan for us by whispering down the lane. Put the forum on your parents' PC, notebook, tablet, and TV and let them read posts and threads about bungalows. If they are so active for 2 cars, a motorcycle, and a workshop, they can manage that. If not, moving in within 2 years is not going to happen anyway, then new construction is the wrong decision, and building or having it built is very stressful. Even much younger people reach their limits there. Complaining about submitted floor plans is easy and not productive. Your parents have to develop a floor plan with their wishes, whether with an architect or forum, but never by whispering down the lane.

I only see the usual "only the artist can recognize something in it" drawing – gray walls with parquet and furniture from the clipart library of the drawing software. Sometimes I really wonder if humanity has forgotten how to find its way to the graph paper seller; and yes: measurements help enormously in assessing the dimensions. But explanations are also helpful for everyone who cannot look into the house planner’s mind. I myself have already advocated for "not doing the calculation without the host," and at least letting those affected participate in the discussion. For all I care, also as a public groupware session with the forum community involved. And remote planning (from about 280 km away!) is, to say the least, "stress." I would even say it is highly efficient wear-down of all stakeholders (where, as I said, in my opinion, not least the affected should also be "participants"). That I coach prospective builders is probably well known by now ;-)

It does. Bungalows are expensive. Just say something about the budget.

I think it's great that you want to build the house for your parents.

I wouldn't have my children build a house for me. Definitely wouldn't have them plan it either.

Who commissioned the architect?

Why are there no heights on the plan?

In the photo in the newspaper, it doesn't look completely flat.

What happened to the first draft? Can we see it too?

I don't find the draft from 1 all that bad under the circumstances. I have an alternative to it, although I wouldn't claim that it's better:

The double garage was changed to a single one. Instead, there is a proper workshop within the insulated shell, which is a huge advantage in winter. The northeast terrace had to give way to a southeast terrace. However, it is very large and covered - an outdoor kitchen is a good option.

I still have this draft on offer :) I would, however, choose a wooden staircase instead of a concrete one and plan gables at the top instead of a hip roof, so that the house can be lived in later with more options. In addition, a guest room or office next to storage space under the roof would also be nice. Even if your parents apparently want to live conservatively, a sauna or yoga sessions can make many joints flexible again, which do not get better with age ;)
