Also always keep in mind that you upgrade – especially in the kitchen. We planned quite compactly as well. Our refrigerator with freezer compartment was no longer sufficient because of Corona and the imposed "shift work" (cohort separation), so now we have a French door. We also had to upgrade the countertop space because of new acquisitions. Luckily, we planned one side open, so we could push things around. I would swap the kitchen and living room – that’s quite close. Shorten the stub wall. Possibly swap the stair landing so that it is away from the front door. It will get a bit dirtier there because of the dogs, and you don’t always want to step in it. Access to the technology would then be at the front. That would also bring some light into the hallway upstairs. The parents’ section can give up a few square meters.We don’t need a separate freezer; a side-by-side refrigerator should be completely sufficient for us due to our cooking habits.
