The intention of the building plan was access from the south. Either on the east or west side. After inquiry, the OP was allowed to make the driveway from the west as well. However, one should take a look at the municipality's garage regulations here to see if the 5 meters still have to be observed.

What exactly is that on the west? A real street, a drivable path without through traffic?

Overall, I see about a 30° deviation from the true north-south axis here. That means from about 4:00 PM the terrace is shaded from the south side of the house. From about 6:00 PM the house largely shades the terrace. By the way, we have the same - and in the planning also underestimated this. But at least there is a second terrace on the north side that has nice sun in the evening during spring and autumn. I prefer some shade at noon and sun in the evening instead. It's all a matter of taste, but for a pure west terrace you have a bit too little space to the property line.

Yes, that will be the case: access assumed from the south... with an exemption permit automatically 5 meters distance according to the state building code (if it indeed stipulates that).

The 5m can be achieved since the building envelope is 12m "high". Depending on the arrangement of the house, the garage will of course extend over the terrace side into the garden. Or were the 5m referring to something else?

That will be a traffic-calmed dead-end street with a turning loop, which will develop the inner part of the area.

That’s really a topic I hadn’t kept in mind in advance. I really have to sleep on it. Thanks for that.

I wonder anyway how you want to access the garage from the west? You have to make a tight 90-degree turn immediately, right? The municipality allows the garage on the west side but surely assumed that the driveway would come from the south and that the garage door would therefore be on the southern garage wall. You reversed that and now drive from the north into your garage located west of the house. I really imagine that to be very difficult.

If you do not get an exemption for (at least) one parking space in the north (then I would forgo a garage!!), I would place the garage on the east and lay the driveway with grass pavers if you like. Then you hardly notice it. The main entrance could either be on the east with access from the south, but better on the north with access from the west. Then there would be a second door from the garage into the house.

Either way, I would definitely keep the southwest side free and not shade it with a garage.

With the arrangement you just showed, you block the western sun on the terrace much earlier. The garage then casts a shadow.

Results in a beautiful large garden and plenty of light in the house.
