Good day everyone,

since we are currently in the planning phase of our little house, I would like to get your opinion on my design, which was put on paper by the architect. I am open to all objections and improvement suggestions. The biggest point where I would like to know your opinion is how you would do the windows (3.01m) at the angle. At the moment, I tend to glaze the windows completely fixed. I would personally like that best. My girlfriend has concerns because
1. The roller shutter box on the inside cannot be cleaned properly.
2. She is afraid that the corner cannot be ventilated then. (In the kitchen, the 2-element is openable).
Alternatively, I am also willing to make a sliding door and have the other window element fixed with a brace. (So that the appearance is the same).
Currently, a 3-element is planned in the drawing, which I do not really like because then the large surface is full of profiles.
Maybe someone has already faced the same problem or can report from personal experience.

Otherwise, I would currently only change the following things:
1. Move the garage door closer to the window so that something can be hung or placed behind the door.
2. Make the side element of the front door to the left so that there is space behind it to later place, for example, the stroller.
3. Extend the wall where the fireplace is going (47cm) a bit. How much space should one plan for a fireplace on average? Is 75 cm enough here?
4. Possibly make the door from the hallway to the living room a sliding door.

Something about us:
2 people, 26 and 28 years old. No children yet, possibly one later.

Thank you very much in advance for your help/opinions

Hello,

three things caught my attention that I would think about again:

1. The long, narrow, and windowless hallway in front of the children's rooms and the bedroom. It feels uninviting.

2. The utility room is very spacious, whereas the guest toilet is rather modest. Could the sizes be adjusted somehow?

3. The position of the garage. Without knowing the property, the question arises for me whether it would be possible to move the garage a bit further north. This would allow placing a west window in the kitchen and thus bring some evening sun into the house.

Best regards

Axel

Hello first of all!

Some things look very nice at first glance, but on closer inspection it often gets tight.

Example living area: how do you want to arrange the couch and TV there? Are the distances between them sufficient?

-> furnish all rooms with realistically sized furniture as you would actually like to place them.

The hallway in the sleeping area is already doable with 1.26 m raw construction measurement, but nicer looks different. It will appear very narrow, and that it is dark has already been mentioned.

The 1.6 m in the guest WC I do not find dramatic. But I wonder who the shower there is supposed to be for. It hardly gets further away from sleeping rooms, and walking through the living room to use it is not attractive as a guest in pajamas... If you skip the shower there, you could allocate the gained space proportionally to the utility room and increase the distance between the WC and sink in the guest WC to make it feel airier.

Regarding the fireplace: what do you imagine? A Swedish stove in the living room? Or something with a viewing window? Hm, to be honest, I wouldn’t put either at this spot, because there will always be problems with the door. Besides, you hardly get any benefit from the stove there if the couch is at the other end of the room. Google "fireplace clearance," that should give you an initial overview of what unfortunately has to be considered.

1) sounds reasonable. 2) also sounds that way, but in my opinion it doesn't help – it's not just this space that's lacking, but the entire wardrobe. 4) why this? The hallway is a claustrophobic dead-end, 4.5 times as long as it is wide or in other words 22% as wide as it is long. One can probably walk through it perfectly fine, but will always want to get it over with quickly; in terms of spatial feeling it is unpleasant. The two three-meter elements are not the problem. I fear that behind the seemingly clear and advanced design there is still much more at the very beginning than you might imagine. In spring, after about 250 posts, we will have this straightened out as far as possible.

The draft can be built if you simply leave out the hallway inside. Why not access the rooms from the living room? What is wrong with that, apart from the fact that it was not done that way in Germany before. In DK it has long been common. Guest WC shower unnecessary. Remove. Done. Karsten

The living room is far too narrow. The hallway is not exactly very charming. I recently uploaded a similar design, but with better proportions. It was a thread roughly titled: what should you consider with a bungalow? By Michaela? Something like that... that would fit :) I don't find the hip roof suitable, rather put a gable there, And: the rest cannot be answered anyway, since the site plan and orientation are missing. Mobile greetings from on the go
