I meant of course the one in the original post. The one posted by South is also very open, but much more usable.

Hello everyone,

I would like to briefly speak up again. The floor plan I showed was drawn by myself. I probably overestimated my abilities here and will arrange professional help (architect in the family) for the next draft... I would gladly continue working on this new draft in the forum as soon as I have it.

What I cannot understand in the forum, however, is the general aversion to an open space/gallery. Playing children on the gallery or in the living room do not bother me, I am a family person! If I had a general problem with children, I wouldn’t have "anschaffen" either.

Regarding the dressing room, gallery, open space, personal taste plays a big role...

Greetings and see you soon!

I think it is more about disturbing small children while they sleep, if the parents are still bustling around in the kitchen in the evening or have guests.

Gallery is not inherently bad, but the conditions for it should be present. I would be happy if you would upload the floor plan from the architect again.

Best regards

I see it the same way... we also built openly... that means living, dining, and kitchen area together as one large room... with the staircase to the upper floor placed in it.

My experience with 3 children and now more than 2 years and 9 months in the house... never again!

If I were to build again, the staircase would definitely move outside into the hallway. With kitchen and living as one room, I would also reconsider...

Especially with small children, I’m glad in the evening when they have fallen asleep. I couldn’t even get myself an ice cream from the freezer in the evening because the rustling is just too loud. Clearing away dishes is just as impossible... now everything always stays until the next day or has to be put away immediately. The TV also runs at a low volume... especially during movies you never understand what is said... then you (man) turn it up a bit... suddenly BAMMM an explosion at 10 times the volume... and from above comes crying...

I have now already gotten a soundbar from Sony to address this problem with "Nightmode" and "Clear Voice" mode...

Not to mention parties or similar on New Year’s Eve etc....

And anyway: With the targeted house size, a gallery is a prime space waster. At the expense of the rooms. No go.
