Hello dear forum members,
our planning has now become a bit more concrete and we are already quite satisfied with the current floor plan.
Maybe a few volunteers will still find something to comment on.
Best regards

Oh, perhaps here are a few more views for better orientation.

Hello Kisska,

honestly, I still don’t find the orientation quite successful. Now you do have the bathroom and kitchen facing south in the basement, and the living room in the northwest... On the ground floor, your bedroom and bathroom also face south. That means it will get quite warm in the bedroom, and the sun in the bathroom is also "wasted." I would find it better to swap the sides in the upper floor and give the children more light. After all, they have to/do homework in their rooms or play during the day in the children’s rooms. A northwest or northeast orientation might not be so nice there.

And what is the reason for this "half" basement? Is that cheaper than a full basement?

Best regards WildThing

One more question I forgot: Where is the entrance door in the basement? And why can't you enter the house from the garage? Do you always have to go around outside to get into the house?

But I definitely find the draft better than the first one :-) This way it is already better utilized and oriented towards the west than in the first draft... :-)

Thank you WildThink for the comments. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about the orientation. It is simply a north-facing plot. Although the children's rooms are very similar to those of friends of ours and, due to the large windows and the dormer, it is not dark at all. Our office in the apartment now is also northwest-facing and has two large floor-to-ceiling windows and it is not dark at all. We don’t really have proper south-facing rooms, since the ridge orientation is south-north. Well, having the living room facing south just doesn’t make sense. What would we do looking at the street all the time, with the beautiful garden. :)

The partial basement is significantly cheaper for us. It is a sloping plot and hardly anything has to be excavated in the front for the basement. And actually, we didn’t want a basement at all. This way it is a sufficient compromise.

The entrance door is directly next to the garage. You can’t enter through the garage because of the thermal bridge. There is also double insulation between the garage and the house. We didn’t want to have cold and moisture from the garage directly in the house.
