Usually, the desire and size of a house are independent of folding or stacking techniques. Builders want a lot of space but don’t really know exactly what for. That’s why we are so busy discussing what actually belongs in a utility room. A family of four must therefore set different priorities, and that’s where the folding technique comes into play, to fit a lot into little storage space. Hardly anyone prowling around this forum has a DRESSING room with a SEAT. And if there is space next to the children's rooms, then the husband might also have a claim to space. We have a small room under the roof next to the bedroom: for 2 people there is space on about 5sqm (the floor area is bigger). It was important in this idea not to have the piles of laundry on the chair, which accumulate during the week, in the bedroom. Unfortunately, no Pax fits under the slants; under the slope are two Malm beds at 160, then Ivar goes around the corner and again around the corner. One wall houses a large mirror; in the middle, we have about 4sqm of space where you can move around very well, change clothes, etc. Two chairs are also still standing around plus a large sports bag, which actually does already get in the way. One more meter of closet space would be nice, but it is what it is. I am healthy. Therefore, I have to sort out again or deal with the folding method, like some others. But today is gardening weather, and that is more important.

Good evening, I am interested in your dressing room dimensions, especially the width or the distance between the rows of wardrobes.

And also a bit of feedback would be appreciated: "can be narrower," "needs to be wider."

Many thanks!

@Kondo: I also roll/fold according to Kondo (just like in the photos). My closet is 50cm deep. I use the lids of banana boxes as "drawers" that fit well into the shelf. For that, I shortened the lids in height. I made dividers from the leftover parts of the lids. It has proven to be really effective; it was actually a makeshift solution. I have an Ivar shelf from Ikea as a closet. I don't find dust to be that problematic, sunlight is more of an issue. Some T-shirts have faded on me before. Unfortunately, with the Kondo method, it only fades partially. That's annoying.

@Ankleide: I find them terrible and don't understand the craze for such dressing rooms at all. The rooms are rarely spacious, often dark and uninteresting. I don't understand why nowadays you can't have a closet (built-in or regular version) in a bedroom. I advocate for a larger bedroom, with well-planned space for a nice closet.

You are right, smaller and tighter definitely, but they do provide the possibility to take clothes independently.

In theory, you can lay out your things in the evening, in practice the T-shirt doesn't fit the concept the next morning anymore and you rummage through the closet :-(

Man or man? :D I think you describe well what I find strange about dressing rooms: in theory, they are nice, practical, great, separate from the bedroom and whatnot. But in practice, I find them rather meh. I sleep in a small children's room, so there's hardly any space for a closet. It stands in an identically small children's room next to the bedroom. I find it really annoying and would prefer a big bedroom.
