Yes, in Ingolstadt the real estate madness has just broken out..... higher inflation rate than in Munich, but even in Eichstätt currently 400-600€/m² are being asked without [Einheimischen Modell].

Before you start talking big here... better ask about the backgrounds first. I had written... WE (meaning me + my wife) made some mistakes at the beginning... because we DID NOT YET HAVE a proper planner. You don’t need a KNX planner?!!! Either you really have no idea or you understand KNX as “lights on and lights off.” Then you really don’t need a planner. Our electrician could have done that too. We use KNX (as well as DALI, onewire and various media systems) holistically to realize truly smart functionality. I didn’t dare to take on this very complex planning myself. By the way, myknx even wanted 5000 EUR for the planning and you probably know them very well.

And... of course we got all components from Voltus. And a large part from MDT. KNX is so complex that an installation can’t really be compared to another. Our KNX cabinet measures 1500x1900 and is FULL!

Whether our programming actually cost exactly 15k I don’t know... but certainly not 2..3 or 5k. We are talking about KNX (around 220 devices and many hundreds of group addresses), DALI, ONEWIRE, Gira Nameserver, Linux KNX server based on Debian, openhab, eibd, smartvisu, mpd for multiroom, special connections for gas, projector, wine fridge, controlled residential ventilation, ekey and quite a few other things. We definitely push the smart home pretty far... no question. But your claim “we paid too much” just shows one thing: You have no clue

Regarding programming costs, I have to agree with Steffen80. They can quickly skyrocket if it should be even slightly customized. I'm currently noticing this at work when I try to outsource simple programming tasks.

I can fully confirm Steffen's statements.

However, if you trust yourself to do it, you can get a system like the one Steffen describes for under 20,000 euros. I did the entire planning myself, and I will also do the programming myself. The wiring of the distribution is done by my brother-in-law (electrician), I handle the media, and we also did the rough installation ourselves. Only the distribution setup was planned by myknx for 400 euros. With this own work, you can realize such a KNX system in this form for under 20,000 euros. Generally, you can also start small with KNX at first, as long as the wiring is prepared accordingly. Then you can also start for under 10,000 euros. You have to really trust yourself for that, as it is an important trade.

Otherwise, it is only recommended to take a knowledgeable SI for the planning, they are specialized in this, and to have the implementation carried out by an electrician you trust.

So I have no idea about KNX... yeah sure, let it go
Certainly KNX is not all the same, but if you scare someone off here with the blanket statement "20k€ is totally unrealistic for KNX and you have to expect 40-80k€" that is absolute nonsense!
Switching lights/sockets, presence detectors, dimming, shutter control, power monitoring, individual room temperature control, window contacts, a few sensors and gimmicks are easily possible for 20k€ and that’s what most people need.
And for that you don’t need a planner, any electrician should be able to handle that and should program it for you in 1-2 days (at least the electricians I know).
Sure, you can also push it to the extreme, but then please add that to your aggressive price announcement as well...

Thank you Hakkinen, your points are exactly what I imagine a home automation to be, that's all we need and all of this should be possible with a Loxone KNX system. Well, I will see what the extra costs are and then simply weigh it up.
