So what? I still enjoy playing with Playmobil with the kids....to each their own, and upgradable to whatever, I don’t know, that’s also the system because KNX is after all knx.

Unfortunately, you are completely wrong. It is not upgradable. Either KNX or NOT KNX (there are many alternatives like Homematic, which would have been my second choice). I can only give you this tip: don’t take what is offered to you but inform yourself thoroughly about the system. What can it do and what can it not do. KNX can do virtually EVERYTHING. Anyway... I would also take a very close look at what is included with [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] directly in the house. If you want to build with high quality (and it sounds like that to me), better calculate an extra 100k right away. Besides KNX, [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], etc. there are 1000 other things you will want to have. We started with the idea of ~600k and are already 350k over. No end in sight...

One more thing about Loxone: the idea behind Loxone is completely different from KNX. You can compare Loxone to Homematic. KNX is decentralized and Loxone is centralized! That was also one of the main reasons for me against Homematic.

So honestly, I don’t need tiles or floors over 40€/m².... maybe someone else does, but not us. Likewise, we didn’t plan 3 bathrooms, only 2. We don’t need air conditioning either, it definitely won’t be installed in the house. The controlled residential ventilation is included in the house price and yes, I looked exactly at what that means. By the way, building "high-quality" means a house that combines the things I want. Whether others consider that "high-quality" is none of my business because the house is not a status symbol for me but living space. If I have to give up something else for our doors and windows, which we have simply fallen in love with, then so be it.

Again about KNX, why shouldn’t Loxone be upgradable? I’d be interested because I can program it just as well via ETS, retrofit various actuators and who knows what else….. if you can give me more info on why it shouldn’t work then gladly. Then it’ll just be dropped and there will be no KNX, I don’t think that’s such a big deal....

Now I don't understand anything anymore, isn't KNX actually installed centrally from the control cabinet in a star topology? At least that's how it's propagated in the KNX user forum....

That’s completely fine. There are also floors for €20 per sqm from the hardware store. And one bathroom instead of two is enough too. Nobody says anything against that. Your first post just sounded different to me...

"Heat pump with ground heat probes
- Controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery and enthalpy exchanger
- Double garage (flat roof as roof terrace)
- Photovoltaics with approx. 7.5kW
- possibly Helix wind turbine 1.5-2kW
- possibly 12kW storage (Tesla)"

That sounds like everything but a standard cookie-cutter house. I just assumed the rest of the equipment would look like that as well. But everyone to their own taste. Well...you’re still at the very beginning in the "dream world" phase and just wait until you’re really deep into planning...a lot will change in wishes and ideas. Financially it looks pretty good and you can surely build a nice house.

You just have to google the basics of KNX and Co. and read up. There’s plenty of info online. By decentralized and centralized I meant...with KNX there is no server, no control center.

Regards, Steffen
