You're right, I meant child 1. How often do you open the wardrobe? You just shouldn't leave the door open. You can also put the book and toy shelf behind it. It's simply easier to furnish.

Thank you for your opinions.
My problem is that my wife plans this for every possible room, for example also for the equipment/heating room and the office.
For these two rooms, I simply don't find it necessary, since there don't have to be wardrobes there and in the office there are at most shelves, which in my opinion do not necessarily have to be hidden behind a door.
The idea there would be to place the door on the wall in order to have more openness in the room, instead of placing something behind it. And, I don't feel like always opening and closing the door when I want to access something on the shelf.

The equipment room is planned separately at the back in the garage and the office in the entrance area.

I would do it in the Geräte Raum. It doesn’t hurt there and a nice heavy-duty shelf can go behind it. I would skip it in the office. If you change it, the space for the wardrobe will be lost.

Hello Ruksson,

in the office, the door can't really be moved much. Access through the upper corridor doesn't basically change anything either. The wardrobe would just have to be moved down directly to the front door.

For the equipment room, I would consider swapping the door and the window and placing the door in line with the passage to the actual garage. If you always have to thread yourself through bulky things there, it will get on your nerves after a short time.

Thank you both, exactly as you said. In the new draft, the architect should make these changes. On the one hand, to place the door in the equipment room in an escape route, and on the other hand, the wardrobe next to the office will be removed, so that we would have more flexibility with the door there. We just need to see whether the door should be shifted or be on the wall. A good argument from my wife (at least visually) is that the entrance door should have a window and you shouldn't be able to look directly at the office door from outside. Nevertheless, I still don't find the idea of storage space really necessary for the office.

I see it the same way as haydee. Instead of heavy-duty shelving, there could also be trash bins, car tires, or similar items. Why should the coat rack be removed from the hallway? Your argument about having to frequently access the closet in the office is legitimate. I would leave the office and equipment room as shown in post #8.
