Even if you take something from a single source, you can question parts and make adjustments if necessary.

Nonsense. Radio, navigation, on-board computer, cruise control are a system together with the steering wheel. Why do you want to have a Mondeo steering wheel in the Insignia, what does that bring? (I’m happy to learn, enlighten me). What does it bring to your family to have to live in a tent on the beautiful new property just because dad can’t find a counting rhyme to decide which house to order? Just look at it the other way around: how many people die every year from living in houses with non-top-tested walls? From my schoolmates, everyone somehow found their way and today I couldn’t say which belonged to the Geha camp and which to the Pelikan camp back then. Why the hell should that transfer to Viessmann vs. Vaillant be so much more dramatic – explain it to me!?

Aren't there any fountain pens in BY? ;) BTT: No one here is saying that all house providers are the same, but they can all build a house – with some exceptions that usually even out over time. Yes, I too have a preference regarding Viessmann - Vaillant - Bosch/Junkers, but first I would filter out a few (about two to five) from the many providers with whom it’s worth going into further details. The more detailed the requirements, the less likely it is that one provider can fulfill them all, so I simply stop when I have only one candidate left – in descending order of priority. This usually includes things like the quality of the floor plan, whether I like the basic approach, whether the sales representative is committed and reachable, and so on.

By the way: In our current attempt, to my own surprise, we were completely open regarding solid construction or timber frame construction. It ended up being the former, which was mainly due to financial reasons. Now the house tends to be less energy-efficient, but everything else fits for us. That’s why my advice is: approach the selection process openly, and don’t put the cart before the horse or from the side if you want to ride it properly later.

PS: The heating in our case is now coming from none of the three mentioned providers.

Yes, I had already lost it from memory too but now it’s back again. Nice! Finally something for the heart in the forum again :D and when you start thinking about it, more come to mind. Manta-Golf-GTI, Puma-Adidas, round or shaped cut (I was never allowed round cut), Kreidler or Zündapp.....ah...I’ll stop.

You can decide entirely on your own, however you want. Nevertheless, it could also make sense to listen to answers from the forum and examine them for your own plans. So far, you don’t really have a project, but have only walked past nice shop windows on the shopping street. That’s okay and often helpful.
As written several times, you first have to clarify your needs, then the budget. Without this, you can forget about shopping. Then at least a first draft or a floor plan from the internet that could fit you and your plot. Roof shape, garage, wall structure, technology, etc. leave out for now. With this, for example, a project can start.
So far, however, you more often throw around brand names and technology manufacturers or fixate on wall structure etc. Just approach such a sequence, and then it will work out. And... be glad that you get criticism and see it as an attempt to help; doubts are good if they are justified.

Pessimistic voices... people here have already planned garden houses and many participated constructively. Are you looking for applause or constructive criticism? It would be strange if a layperson (like us) wouldn’t get criticism for a project worth half a million euros that they are undertaking for the first time in their life. THAT would surprise me more.

really???? Then just post it. If it’s fixed, it must also be approvable and structurally/financially feasible. Then it’s almost done, and you only have to get offers. That might already exclude some providers, and since you have other preferences, a few more.
I rather believe that you have the basis of a finished floor plan that you like. That would already be a good start. As a layperson, you can’t really have fixed the placement. I think you have firm ideas and wishes about it, which is already good. Show it.

Explain why exactly you want to choose a certain type and company of heating.
