So I have had one of those wire things from the hardware store hanging in my shower in the rental apartment for 6 years. Works fine. The same with the toilet paper holder, only that one doesn’t get wet all the time. Also holds up.

Apart from the mirror (cabinet), I have no need to drill any holes in the walls other than the ones provided.

So I already know that we will need a ton of cabinets and shelves. And I want to mount everything on the wall (including tall cabinets), that makes cleaning much easier. And then the TV for the bathtub...

Just take the shower walls for the wall heating, nothing is installed there anyway

That is then about half of the required area (without the planned niches) and never say never... I can really live with that. Personally, I am even thinking of an infrared mirror, my wife just can’t imagine it yet...

Hello everyone,

I hope it’s okay if I join in here with a similar question, the discussion here has already helped me a lot.

We are planning a new building in the Stuttgart area (with an architect) and have received a cost estimate from an HVAC company that is supposed to do the planning first. I am somewhat surprised by the total amount (a good €120,000 net, so about €140,000 gross) and would like to know whether this is realistic – so far, we had planned around €100,000 gross for HVAC. Floor coverings and walls are of course budgeted separately.

The corresponding estimates are attached, especially the amount estimated for the [LWWP] seems very high to me when I compare it here in the forum – what do you think about the other values?

A brief summary of our project:
- Upper floor: 1 master bathroom and separate WC (total about 10 sqm); one children’s bathroom (about 5.5 sqm)
- Ground floor: 1 guest WC (a good 2 sqm)
- Basement: utility room, technical room (side by side)
- all bathrooms are planned directly above/beside each other
- heated area with underfloor heating about 240 sqm over 3 floors
- central controlled residential ventilation ([in cost estimation but not yet included])

Is it feasible with €100,000, or were we too optimistic? Standard should be good, but not luxurious. We are building according to the Building Energy Act, since KfW doesn’t pay off for us.

Thanks!

You have significantly more living space than I do. but yes, I would also think that the heat pump is too expensive. Do you already have a heating load calculation? Maybe it is simply oversized? But the real shocker from my perspective is the cost of the sanitary installations. Putting the objects aside (with the appropriate demands, you can easily reach the estimated 19,000 EUR) it is easily four times my offer. And on top of that, the ventilation is supposed to be done via window seals, so you don’t have any real controlled residential ventilation installed?! Crazy. Oh, by the way, what is included with drainage? Only the drain pipes inside the house? A backwater valve could be fine, I don’t have that, I’m not familiar with it.
