For bargain hunters: For small installations (6 network outlets in the house), one skips the patch panel and crimps connectors directly onto the cable ends. These are then plugged into the switch.

Otherwise, as already described. Hardware CAT6.A. Consider where you want Power over Ethernet (PoE), possibly run this via a separate patch panel (not mandatory, optional), and possibly via a separate switch (a switch with PoE is more expensive and consumes more power than one without).

Ideally, you have double CAT sockets. Then you place the Fritzbox centrally (WLAN, DECT), use one line for the route from the utility room to the Fritz, and the other line for the way back.

A question to the OP: If the electrician does not terminate the cables, he cannot measure through them. How is his work acceptance then done?

: Now for my understanding once again. I have 6 network sockets in the house. All cables terminate in the utility room. There I can crimp the cables and connect them directly to my Gigabit switch. From there, a patch cable goes to the Fritz!box. Would that be sufficient? Then I could completely save on the patch panel?

Regarding the NAS in the attic: I hadn’t considered the heat yet. I can also place the NAS in the utility room. It’s not a problem that the dryer and washing machine are there, right?! (possibly a bit more humidity)

Crimping directly onto it is a tricky thing - CAT7 cables are usually way too thick. There are special connectors for that, but you also need a good crimping tool...

Whether the OP really has the knowledge to execute wiring properly..?

yes it works but should it fail because of 20 euros?

I can only agree. Today it may still be considered sufficient, but you don't know what your requirements will look like in 5 years. With a patch panel, you are prepared for everything and have chosen the tidiest way – and you haven't even invested much money.

Ok, so it shouldn't fail because of the 20,-€. Then I will order the items in the next few days.

Is there an instruction for the patch panel on how I should make the wiring? Or rather, when I crimp the connectors on it?

Thanks so far.
