Good evening,

after much deliberation, several conversations, and also following the tips here from the forum, we have decided to abandon the idea of "completely stepless" building on the slope.
Apparently, it doesn’t quite work without it.
We also had a look at a split-level house and were quite impressed by the building adapted to the terrain, although "split-level" was actually off the table for us before.

I have created a floor plan again, which only requires two "half" stairs on three levels and where the cube adapts as much as possible to the existing terrain.
No basement, but a double garage at the house that can be used as a roof terrace.
Roof shape: split shed roof

Please give your opinion and criticism.

If this is in the wrong subforum, please move it to the correct one, thanks.

Good morning,

as someone who has built with split-level themselves, a few remarks:

We made sure to have a toilet on every important level, simply to minimize climbing stairs.
I don’t see that with you. If you are in the open-plan room at the top, you always have to climb at least half a flight of stairs to get to the bathroom.
Sounds picky, but we found it important.

The niches in the hallway on E1 are still good for built-in cupboards, but in the hallway on E0 they make no sense and are presumably there for the sake of symmetry?
I would leave them out and rather add the gained space to the child/guest room and shower/toilet. Those two rooms can use the space better than the already large hallway.

By the way: How wide is your hallway? We have 1m wide stairs (I wouldn’t make them narrower, with an 11.5 cm wall as a railing in between). That results in a finished width of about ~2.10m with a rough construction width of 2.135m. (Picture attached)

Overall, the use of space can still be optimized.
The hallway on E1 is very large and actually not necessary like that. I would consider whether you should add a storage room there instead.
A roof window could ensure the necessary brightness in the hallway.

If you swap the bathroom on E1 with the utility room, the offset in the wall needed for the two doors would also disappear.

I would consider swapping E2 and E1.
You wouldn’t have to carry groceries so far up to the kitchen, which would probably be almost at garden level. For that, the terrain would need to be measured exactly. With a sloped plot, much more attention must be given to the property and its features, especially during the planning phase.
Another advantage would be some privacy in the parents’ area, which your guests wouldn’t have to pass through when visiting.

Alternatively, you could consider distributing the open-plan room over E1 + E2. You could then integrate the staircase into the room and work with a glass railing. That’s how we did it. It’s really an eye-catcher and makes the house something special. (Picture attached). That would also be my favorite today.
So E0: entrance + guest + utility room
E1: kitchen/dining + utility room + guest WC
E2: living + parents’ area

The wall under the stairs is probably executed straight because it goes against the earth and you are just wasting space. You could create a storage room under the stairs.
We did that too (picture attached).

I hope I could give you a bit of input.

Regards

Good morning Matte,

thank you very much for the interesting explanations.

Yes, that sounds reasonable to us as well.

They are due to the entrance area. The niches should make it look more inviting and the hallway not so long. Hmm... I have to rethink that.

Also worth considering. But then I have to check how the doors to the rooms on E1 will fit.
But a storage room under the stairs would also be useful (see your other tip).

True.

Also worth considering, the only disadvantage would be having to walk up the stairs to the fridge again when you’ve already made yourself comfortable on the couch in the evening.

Absolutely, looks very good. Thanks for the pictures.

You’re right, see above.

PS: Could you possibly give me more information about your SplitLevel house? For example, region, hillside conditions, house size, etc. Also happy via PM. Unfortunately, I can't write any myself yet...
