Yes and no, that does not necessarily exclude each other. However, visible rafters would then be present in this area.
Attached is my proposed change for the roof structure (left as previously planned; yellow each denotes the desired air space; right the variant). If the roof section over the dining area and covered terrace were executed as a gable roof – otherwise the hip roof can remain – a gable glazing would be possible as an alternative to double-wing windows:
Well, Scanhaus Marlow has disqualified itself anyway. It is probably better to implement it in solid construction. Thanks for the proposed changes, a gable roof bay window was also already under discussion with us. However, the roofing is not particularly stylish and a hip roof simply fits our desired country house style better. Furthermore, gable windows are more difficult to darken than skylights.
