I only planted the elderberry this year, just like the sea buckthorn... There will be some more wild fruit added by spring at the latest... I love homemade things!

We mainly rely on "wild" fruit and berries. The ones we planted ourselves probably need a few more years before they yield a decent harvest. The nice thing here is that the neighboring village community has planted fruit trees along their field and country roads, where everyone is free to help themselves. Great thing!

Do you drag your moped down to the basement to work on it?! [/QUOTE]
No, I can just break it in off-road. My wife looked a bit annoyed, but she has to deal with it. She can even park it in the granny flat during winter since there are no floor coverings in there yet.

It depends on the ground.

We also built with a basement, since the property is on a slope. Half of the basement is completely free, resulting in 2 rooms + a bathroom with 40m². Also, for me, all the technology and heating system emotionally belong in the basement. And a larger storage room has to go there too. Here, the argument with the children is the most important one for me.

Whether we would build on flat ground without a basement, I don't know. If the plot is big enough, definitely. But here in our area, prices of around €400/m² are called for, and you don’t want to give too much of the outdoor areas to enclosed buildings. Also, the fees then increase again due to the larger sealed surface.

By the way, our basement cost us €67,000 excluding earthworks and interior finishing, a nice sum of money, but that also includes the basement of the garage, which adds another 34m² of storage space. So you can do without a garden shed.

Certainly one of the determining factors. Here, the developed land costs from 50€ per m². The soil is also unspectacular. Remove 30-50cm of topsoil and that's it. Of more than 80 houses in the development area, only one has a basement.

Overall, you need a certain amount of storage space. Whether it is created above or underground depends on the individual situation.
