Sauna in the main bathroom or in the basement?

How do you want to cool down after the sauna? A large cold water pool is rather rare in private settings and taking a long cold shower is not everyone's thing either, I find it nicer if you can quickly go outside. Especially in winter

A cold water pool is not planned. We have a large balcony across the entire width of the house on the upper floor. Therefore, it is only a few steps from the bathroom to the outdoors.

We have integrated the sauna into the living area. However, since we didn’t want to put in a 2x2 meter wreck, we installed an S1 from Klafs. You can extend and retract it. It’s not the cheapest solution, but if you’re planning with a pool and everything else, then budget might not be the limiting factor :) For us, the solution is ideal. You don’t have the sauna hidden in the basement, but you still don’t need more space than for a wardrobe.

Thanks for your experience, I hadn’t thought about that yet. Do you happen to have a picture of how the sauna is integrated into the living area?
I don’t think the budget will be the problem, we want a high-quality sauna, no matter where it is ultimately placed.
How much does such a sauna cost? I currently have €30,000 allocated for the sauna.

No picture unfortunately at the moment, I can make one after the part is finally installed in December ;-) Wow, 30,000€ is quite a statement. That should be enough. If money is no object, then I would go to the friendly Klafs partner and check out the S1 and get some advice. Take your floor plan with you, they will then make you an individual offer. They come in different sizes and materials. Depending on the version, you will end up somewhere between 18 and 25k. Klafs is pricey, but the solution with moving in and out is just cool.

The fundamental question is: If the sauna moves to a certain floor, what would then swap places with the sauna? For me, the question was: studio or sauna, one goes to the basement and one goes to the attic. For me, the choice was clear. If the choice is: storage room or sauna, the choice would also be clear for me, I would put the storage room in the basement.

So if the sauna on the upper floor doesn't displace anything, then it's perfect.
