Is there a window? (Height of the bottom edge?)
Does the fourth wall connect directly to the doors?
Are there any appliances besides the dishwasher?
Can the dishwasher be stored in the basement or in the attic?
About 80 cm in front of the stove is not much, but do you want to dance while cooking?
Should it be a refrigerator only?
Do you prepare large turkeys or is a 45 cm high oven sufficient?
You need pots and pans for cooking. There is no space for that in your planning.

P.S. With the camera, you would need to be able to set macro/close-up mode, then you can also take sharp pictures of objects nearby.

Hello Robi,

I really, really like your plan! That would solve all problems at once! I just don't know much about the connections for a kitchen. If it works out with the power cable, etc., that would be a real possibility!

Hello Ikea expert,

so - the 4th wall doesn't connect directly to the doors. There is a fixed seating area immediately adjacent. I could get rid of that. But if I also put kitchen appliances there, there wouldn't be any dining space left. The window is right behind the seating area. The rest of the apartment isn't big either.

Unfortunately, there is no basement or attic. Only a small storage niche for some sports equipment.

Do you think 80cm in front of the stove would be enough? I sometimes dance through the apartment, but it doesn't necessarily have to be while cooking.

The refrigerator should have a freezer compartment. But a small one in an under-counter fridge is enough. Somehow, the "emergency pizza" has to be stored.

I don't make turkeys. But I really like baking – cake or even a tray of pizza for guests should be doable. Are there such small ovens? I have to check that right away!

For pots and pans (and glasses and so on) I thought of putting a not-too-deep wooden shelf on the wall opposite the stove (assuming there is a solution where the fridge doesn't stand there). I have such a shelf now and fit lots of pots and dishes there (the only downside is that things you don't use often need dusting from time to time).

By the way, the photo is NOT my plan. That's what the kitchen currently looks like – with very old ugly cabinets. I agreed that I would redo it when I move in. The way it is now is just not acceptable!

And yes, true! The camera has such a setting. I use it very rarely and didn't even think of it.

Many thanks to everyone here for the ideas and help!!!

Another plan that I am not satisfied with and that still has issues:

Is there no space for a dining area in the living room?

Hello IKEA expert,

thank you very much for this idea!

That just gave me the idea to maybe build around the corner after all – but without a corner cabinet, rather with a "dead corner" (only the countertop on top used as a storage surface) and with the fridge where the stove is now ...

Regarding your question: Unfortunately, there is no living room. There is only a small living/bedroom (about 16 sqm). If I squeeze the dining area in there, I would basically be eating in the bedroom next to the bed.

Hello, what advantage would the dead corner have? There would then be no base cabinet at all.

Well, I thought I would at least have storage space on the countertop in the corner and it would save 30cm on the longer wall compared to a corner base cabinet. But it’s not ideal yet.

To be honest, I’m slowly changing my mind. Maybe it won’t be Ikea after all. I’ve found another manufacturer who has 80x80 corner base cabinets. Then it would fit! Although it’s a pity, because I had my eye on such a nice solid wood countertop and the other manufacturer doesn’t have that at all. Maybe just the cabinets and then a DIY store countertop on top. Really a shame, but what good is it if the cabinets don’t fit?
