Well, trying to turn Birkenstocks into Louboutins means, besides the imperfection of the result, also quite some effort. I would avoid the frustration over the never completely smooth suboptimality by switching to acceptance and looking ahead (i.e., continuing to search for optimal objects and enjoying the fact that you are already one step further than in the rented apartment).

I don’t quite see it that way. For many, Homematic and Hue are enough. So it’s already a bit smart. The market is definitely moving towards wireless.

Yes, but only the DIY segment. Hue and the like are the alloy wheels and doormats to buy separately and change yourself. But if you want to change something substantial, you have to go to the workshop. And after a few years, you throw that stuff out again because it is hopelessly outdated or worn out.

By the way, the market does not reward you if you retrofit a Polo with a V8 Triturbo - especially not if it’s glued in :)

My biggest problem when retrofitting is the window sensors

Which window sensors can detect the lever position?
For example, the lift-and-slide door is open but still slid closed, then the roller shutter lock should still be activated.

Ideally even without a battery but not a must

Window sensors are the easiest even though I have KNX, I use wireless window sensors because they are more versatile and cheaper. Hoppe window handles Enocean is the keyword.
