I don't find Loxone uninteresting either, but one problem with Loxone is that if they were to go bankrupt at some point, I would have to replace all the cables and tear open the walls

That is the biggest criticism point

Why.. Tree, Free@home and KNX and even the quick bus from comexio work over the same cables. And, even if Loxone goes bankrupt, which is currently more than unlikely, the system keeps running and the second-hand market is huge.

That's nothing other than 2x2x0.6 and 2x1.5, KNX is 2x2x0.8 but that's all. Especially because the Treebus is significantly faster than KNX. But KNX cable works just the same for Tree, you just need a separate 24V supply line for the LED.

It does, and it is not officially certified for KNX, but it should still work. You may have to pay attention to the cable length, as the cross-section of the data wires is smaller than with KNX.

Since Loxone does not offer a price advantage compared to KNX, why even bother?

No price advantage, definitely added value.. if only because the possibilities are by far greater than with KNX and much easier to implement.

Because otherwise a server is also needed with KNX, and if it fails, it's game over.
