Hello Der Da,

I know that all too well... I often had to wallpaper alone because the best husband of all was always somehow on the go. For the ceilings, one of my children then had to hold the broom. But both of them are very good at wallpapering today and also find practical solutions in life; being a child with me prepares them for later life

Contrary to my nature, I asked you publicly because many here underestimate the topic of self-performance and even the painting work alone should not be underestimated! Thank you for also answering publicly.

Kind regards - and no one has ever called me "Maaam"

I don't really understand the first one, number 2 is clear, number 3 I wouldn't want to recommend to you either – self-construction is tough, architects do not give fixed prices, otherwise they would be general contractors, and I don't really understand the local contractor either. He "owes" no one license fees or similar and usually can offer cheaper. No, that actually cannot be the case. There are many supraregional providers who have "branches" in Baden-Württemberg and also work with local craftsmen. You should first clarify exactly what YOU want – above you listed both prefab and solid house providers. There is a world of difference! How young are you, if I may ask cheekily? Best regards

Actually, we would prefer to build with solid construction! We looked at the prefabricated houses mostly for informational reasons, since we have no idea about house construction. The architect gave us a written breakdown with an approximate price of 260,000. The local builder said that we wouldn’t get anything from him for less than 250,000...and so on. I am currently 34, my husband 37.

I would advise you to take your time and inform yourselves about house construction. If you have no idea and are perhaps somewhat desperate as you might be at the moment, you are an easy target.

With solid construction, you actually need to accumulate even more knowledge because, in my opinion, more things can go wrong here. External construction supervision is almost a must. Although a lot can also go wrong with prefabricated houses, good companies usually have quality control at the factory that should detect the biggest errors. But on-site checks are also necessary.

With Weberhaus, I am a bit surprised. They offered us a house very cheaply, but unfortunately, the gut feeling was not so positive that we didn’t inquire further.

Who told you the max amount of 220 TEU?? The house bank? How is this amount calculated?? Is it really the absolute max or just a rough estimate? How much repayment has been calculated? If it really is the absolute max, then better leave it alone.... If interest rates rise in a few years, it can quickly go downhill.

Feedback... first of all THANK YOU to everyone who responded to me publicly or privately on this forum! This has helped us a good deal in making our decision!!! In the meantime, we have decided to skip the new construction. Instead, we have received a good house purchase offer in our town. An architect and a contractor are scheduled for next week, but I still have a question here: It is a house from the 1950s. We definitely need to renovate (completely!) and also extend (1 1/2 stories, without a basement), since the original house only offers about 70 sqm of living space + demolition of the old workshop. The real estate agent who wants to sell us the house immediately made us a corresponding offer for €100,000 (so without the land, but otherwise completely finished). He has already given us the extension/remodeling plans, finished and approved. The offer sounds fantastic, but I still have my doubts whether €100,000 will be sufficient for such an undertaking?!
