@all: Everyone should be aware of why this house building forum was created... certainly not to have a platform for construction enthusiasts far removed from any reality. I turned to this forum in hopes of possibly receiving some constructive criticism, unfortunately that was probably an exaggerated expectation. You cannot expect members to provide a perfect architectural design according to your own ideas.... The design must always be aligned with family circumstances, and furthermore, you should not forget that ordinary people are not millionaires, but the budget still always limits ideas and wishes. Now to the questions: The house is oriented southwest with the terrace, and the plot is about 1200 sqm and located in the second row in a rural area. All three children's rooms are needed as such; we are already giving up the office. The toilet is intended as a second WC for five people and as a guest toilet. I think it would be excessive to set up a fancy bathroom for the children. That is neither functional nor conducive to developing a corresponding sense of values in the offspring. We as a family also do not find a division into public and private zones desirable, since everything that belongs to the family should also be used by the family; private zones are in each one's own room, everything else would be luxury... At a later point, when the children no longer live in the house, the children's rooms and the guest WC are to be separated from the rest of the house and possibly used as a practice, which is why the children's zone is completely on one side. The hallway is also deliberately chosen this way because it corresponds to our current apartment and we find that sufficient; additional daylight can be provided with light cutouts in the doors. The hallway is purely a passage room and not living space. As far as the kitchen is concerned, we have deliberately chosen a separate room because we cook, bake, and do crafts a lot, and only eat in the kitchen. The dining area in the living room is only for guests and primarily is meant to be our game table, so no long ways to eat... In my opinion, a pantry is most functionally arranged next to a kitchen; where else does a pantry make sense??? It is intended solely for storing food like potatoes, onions, apples, preserved goods; we do not want to cure sausage or store bread there... Storing such things in a kitchen cabinet has cost me a lot of space and is impractical, but in 2.22 sqm it can be accommodated quite well, and the cabinets remain clean and available as storage space, and the dining table is nearby. The dressing room is not intended as a "dressing room" but serves to hide the wardrobe. In the future, I want only the bed in the bedroom and no additional cabinets. Regarding the issue of the sleeper being disturbed, I have to say, what are people supposed to do in a 3-room apartment??? Again, a small luxury problem, right??? The utility room is also deliberately planned in the hallway area so that craftsmen do not have to be let into the house first; a door to the outside spoils the exterior view, so that too is a deliberate decision. Now to the living room: 35 sqm is absolutely sufficient as a living room, contrary claims seem to be a luxury problem again... The three windows bring enough daylight into the room, and only space for two sideboards is needed; we are not fans of cupboards. So, now some things may be easier to understand... Furthermore, this is not a prefab house design but an own one... and the wife still works despite the three children, the East Germans are just that dumb.... If anyone can still contribute constructive feedback now, I would be grateful, and for the future of this forum, I would wish for a bit more courtesy and realism. Questions should be directed directly to the poster. For five people, the space may not be particularly generous, but each child has their own room, there is a garden and space, time, and money for joint activities. That would not be the case if one overextends oneself with space and generosity wishes and then cannot pay the installments. Then the time comes when the kids leave the nest and you have a huge house to manage; who wants that??? Sorry, but that had to be said....
