Why should someone switch to Matter now if they are doing very well with System XY and have good experiences with it?
We are now only talking about the normal radio systems such as Bosch, Shelly, Eve, etc.
The premium systems like KNX, Loxone, etc. will of course remain better, especially KNX, but for KNX you need the wiring and that is the big problem with retrofitting.
Matter and the current island systems actually have mostly retrofitters as customers.
If someone currently has a working system, they will not switch, but if they want to expand their current system and their current system is compatible with Matter, then they would take a Matter-compatible product to expand it (which their system might not even have offered yet).
Making something compatible does not mean 100% interoperable at the same time. Warning pure speculation: there will again be a number of special cases where everyone will praise their system as the best. Even in the future there will be incompatibilities despite the agreement. Some devices will then not be 100% integrable, etc.
That is supposed to be regulated by the Matter licensing.
All products that get the Matter logo through licensing shall be 100% compatible, i.e. when searching for a new product you only have to look for the Matter logo (that is the plan).
The examples you mentioned are still complete beginners in the home automation market despite their size.
Which examples would you name for wireless retrofit solutions in the smart home sector?
