No, KNX is not possible.

we have to go with radio.

Yes, basically you are right, but that only applies to the normal lamps.
If the lamp should be dimmable or glow with colors, then it has to be "smart."

Philips Hue lamps, for example, always need to be on permanent power (because of the mesh and so that the bridge can control the lamps).

WiFi: are WiFi lamps really good? Don’t they completely clog up the WiFi? How are the switch-on times or reaction times of WiFi lamps?

Why do you think Matter will not prevail?

All manufacturers (as far as I know except Homematic IP) have joined the Matter project, and have or will make their old "island solutions" compatible with Matter (mostly via their own bridge).

A few examples of well-known brands: Apple, Google, Amazon, eve, Bosch, Aqara, Ikea, etc.

If Matter will not prevail or if it is not supposed to prevail according to the participating companies, why did these companies work together for so long and agree on the radio standard Thread? They could have saved that time.

I am facing the same problem. In the basement, I want controllable lights (work vs. relax) and don’t want to have to buy another Hue Bridge now.

For floor lamps, I have various Wi-Fi sockets (Shelly, Meross) that I have integrated into Homekit. However, they regularly lose connection. I hope Thread works better. Soon, I will try to integrate an Eve light switch via Matter with the iOS 16.2 release to then control some scenes. We’ll see.

Matter/Thread will dominate in rental apartments. Looking back, I would have liked to have had KNX in a single-family home – now I have to deal with my wireless solutions.

Did you know that there is KNX via radio?

Yes, but using that as a "standalone solution" for switching individual lamps/scenes is already a big gun for this small sparrow and, in my opinion, contradicts the system concept of KNX. As an extension, OK, but as discussed here?

Shelly: Dimmable = no smart lamp needed Color changeable = only works with low-voltage LEDs Basically changing the color on a lamp: Do people really do that? That’s true. But still insisting on Matter, where there have long been so many solution options? And I repeat once again – why do I have to buy a smart end device (bulb) when it’s much smarter to put an actuator (whether radio or WLAN) in front of a 99-cent bulb?

Because it is simply just another system among many and obviously also struggles with serious problems. In addition, it still needs to be accepted by the ultimate end customer. However, electricians, system integrators, and other bodies also have a say here. Because not everyone installs something themselves in their house/apartment. Instead, they order, pay, and want a finished product. Why should someone switch to Matter now if they are doing very well with system XY and have good experiences with it? Making something compatible does not automatically mean 100% interoperable. Warning, pure speculation: There will once again be numerous special exceptions where everyone will advertise their system as the best. In the future, there will still be incompatibilities despite the agreement. Some devices will then still not be 100% integrable, etc. The examples you mentioned are still complete beginners in the home automation market despite their size.
