So I have Hue and Ikea in use here. Ikea offers the best price/performance ratio for standard applications. I have no experience with Nanoleaf. WiFi is a tricky thing – I mostly see disadvantages compared to Zigbee (no mesh, unclear if your router can handle many devices, etc., and the price isn’t better either)

have you also registered the Ikea Tradfri lamps on the Hue Bridge?

ok so for lamps Zigbee is currently the best.

Nanoleaf is soon bringing new lamps with Thread to the market (others will probably do that too)

Philips Hue said we do not plan lamps with Thread (the Hue Bridge is already Matter compatible)

how does it work with the Hue lamps and the mesh setup? Can I for example have the Bridge in the basement and the lamps in the attic are still reachable?

I would of course equip the stairwell and hallway with lamps for the mesh coverage

I did that once, now I do it differently - but it works that they are all Zigbee compatible.

Everything is already in the Zigbee standard. Lamps and also smart plugs, basically anything that is permanently connected to power, act as routers.

If you have a lamp or a smart plug between the basement and attic, it should all work.

Does that also work in practice?

This is also how the thread is structured

The thread is based on Zigbee, and with Matter the entire Zigbee Alliance also took part

Ok, I still have some time before buying the first lamps. March 2023, then wait again to see what the status is

How would you do outdoor lamps at the house entrance?

Just a normal dumb lamp with a dumb motion sensor?

Or would you take a Philips Hue lamp there?

Are there Philips Hue lamps with integrated motion sensors? Or is there only the separate battery-powered motion sensor from HUE?

We do, I prefer warm light, especially in the evening when relaxing or in the bathroom while taking a bath. My wife likes cold light. Always. Our child likes colorful light. But he only gets that in his room...

Yes, we would definitely want to switch between Warm and Cold and Dimmable.

In the living room, color would also make sense if you want to integrate the lamps into the Ambilight.
