We already have a high savings rate alongside financing. We hope to be done by the age of 50 and then pay off even more. We already take vacations, even with 2 children.

It sounds silly, but I am also expecting an inheritance of around 100-150k.

Why does hardly anyone write here about a Dread Disease insurance? I find it somehow more sensible and less complicated in case of damage than having to fight in court with a disability insurance! A Dread Disease pays out the sum upon diagnosis and that's it, you can easily pay off your debts with it! With a disability insurance, a certain level/disability must first be determined! As an office worker, you can still work blind or without a hand, so for me it's somehow too risky to argue with the insurer in case of damage!

With a Dread Disease insurance, however, only predefined events = illnesses are insured. If you fall from the ladder and are unable to work, you get nothing from it.

What exactly do you mean? Premiums or insurance sums? It should be noted that, for example, in this case as a banker, he would also be able to work with a wheelchair!

Such insurance can never be a full substitute for a BU -> see the reasoning of nordanney. This insurance really only applies to predefined diseases.

An important clause in a BU is still the waiver of abstract reference. This means that if you can no longer perform your job, the BU applies. Of course, there are also various percentage-based tariff contents where the insurance only pays after 30% or 50% occupational disability. This is all reflected in the monthly premium. Here you have to compare the tariffs carefully and consider what you want/need. I think you cannot outsmart the insurance industry here, it is all very precisely calculated. A Dread Disease insurance does not help in this regard either.
