That is clear, the winner is and always remains the insurer! I just have a feeling that with a DD insurance everything is clearly defined and an expert no longer has to determine percentages. Good insurers have already covered 49 diseases in it and usually offer a BU option for, for example, spinal injuries or psychological damages!

Why is it that in the USA, UK, and Canada there are more DD insurances than BU insurances? Because they are quite good at suing!

Hello, a question to the species. My supplementary insurance has now arrived. I am supposed to pay a hefty €80 for €1560 disability insurance until the age of 65. I did some casual research and noticed that direct insurers like Cosmos and Hannover Direkt are very price aggressive with comfort protection. Are such providers recommended? Or is it better to inquire with a traditional insurer?

Neither nor... I believe that [BU] is one of the insurances for which I would consult an independent broker. As a layperson, you often don't know what you have actually taken out.

Since I currently had the topic in my hands again, I have a question about it:
Did you take out disability insurance (BU) until 65 or 67? Considering the age pyramid, it is more likely that we will not be able to receive a pension at 67 yet. In this respect, a rather large gap would arise at 65.

And another tip for the new homeowners. Many disability insurance contracts include the option of a follow-up insurance guarantee for certain events, where you can increase the benefit. Among other things, this includes the birth of a child, marriage, and building a house. This must happen within a certain period (e.g., 6 months).
Unfortunately, we missed all these cases.

I am civil servant and even want to do the disability insurance only until 60! Why? Risk tolerance and private provision so that I can retire at max. 63. I don't want to be stuck in civil service until 70.

Yes, the subsequent insurance option. The nice thing is that it is never communicated and the agent/broker who knows about the option doesn't bring it up. By the way, I have now had such an option offered (salary increase). They want to make a new additional one to the original contract (€48 for 1300) of €20 for 300 disability insurance. Low interest phase blah blah. You have to reinsure under new conditions.
