Where to place the terrace/living rooms if the street is on the west side?

If you live in a residential area with other houses (and not at the edge of a flat field), the sun in the west will anyway be behind some house in the evening, and a plant about 1m high won’t take away your sunlight.

Thank you very much for your many ideas. Thanks to you, we were able to better categorize everything and have now created a rough floor plan for ourselves... We would like to show this to the architect soon. Maybe you still have a few ideas, criticisms, or suggestions.

The whole thing is supposed to be designed to be barrier-free with the possibility of installing a small elevator later if needed (top left in the hallway). Since we are not building a basement, we need substitute rooms for the basement.

The heating room is intended for this purpose as well as the office/guest room, which is on the upper floor. We will not be using the garage for the car. It will also provide storage options.

As mentioned, this is just our idea so far and we welcome all kinds of criticism.

The doors must open inward and the windows are partially still missing.

Yes, that's true. For now, I'm mainly concerned with the very basic floor plan. You probably still have some criticism, so I will only insert windows and doors into the floor plan afterwards.

The bathroom on the ground floor is too big for me and personally I would miss a children's bathroom on the upper floor, which would be very important to me. The distance from the dressing room to the bathroom would definitely be too far for me, so (and because I find the door next to the bed too tight) I would plan the access to the bedroom from the dressing room.

Best regards

From my point of view, the house should be positioned as far east and north as possible: This would provide the starting point. Seating area in the south (thus there is also the evening sun) – therefore the last design is by far the best so far. Additionally, my experience shows that 2 seating areas (except in special situations) are rarely really used (just like balconies on the upper floor if there is a terrace on the ground floor). One seating area – but in the right place (here: south) – is sufficient. Regarding the rooms: I also find the bathroom on the ground floor too large. And on the upper floor, a "children’s bathroom" would certainly make sense. Guest/office room: Does it have to be that big? And I would miss a pantry: I would put it between the kitchen and the living room, and in exchange for that, I would do without the cross row of the kitchen as well as the French doors into the living room: With such a measure, you can do without part of the (expensive) kitchen furniture and would have a great (small!) storage room. The wide corridor between living room/entrance/dining area certainly adds something visually, but in terms of utility rather little. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you: You will undoubtedly manage to get it according to your needs!
