Where to place the terrace/living rooms if the street is on the west side?

Below is also south. Left is west.

Then the children's rooms are in the dark and they also have few window areas. I wouldn't do it that way.

If the west is on the left, then the rooms get the midday/afternoon and evening sun in the summer, right!? Or am I completely misunderstanding that?

Do you possibly think that too little sun shines into the children's rooms in winter because the sun sets in the west? I had thought that the children's rooms in the west then get afternoon sun (after school) and evening sun. Am I completely mistaken?
